Do dealers do window tinting? Do they charge outrageous prices? Might be the solution there, have them tint the windows when they receive it, you just won't be able to take delivery of the car for a couple days waiting for the tint to fully cure. I know if the car was sitting in front of me, I would have to drive it, if it's still at the dealer, I wouldn't be tempted as much.

Easy to take care of. When you get your car back from the tinters get out there with a hair dryer. Open the door and run the hairdryer along the top portion of the window for about 15 minutes. That will seal the tint and you will have no problems. I use to work at a sign/tint shop and that is all we had to do to solve that problem.

My 94 GT has an Express down feature but the swithch has a detent on it. Press it a little bit and you can control how far the window will come down. press the switch all the way and the window will go down all the way non-stop. I'm sure the '05 will be the same for the up and down of the window so just try not to his the window switch.

We are talking about the automatic up and down that occurs EVERYTIME the door opens/closes not the express feature that most newer cars have.

I am not tinting the windows this time around anyway. Im kinda bored with them, and dont think they do anything for the looks of the new car. I like being able to see the red interior and IUP through the glass I think tinted windows would look cheapo on this car.
Red interior......you are reducing your color palette you know. What's the latest color of the day Kev?

Oh ok, sorry I must have miss that feature when I was doing my reading about the '05s. How does that work? Does the key have to be in the ignition or does it happen when you take the key out and then open the door with the window down?

It happens everytime the door is opened, regardless if the key is in or not, it is designed to promote a better seal when the door is closed. This feature is normally included on all high end vehicles.

that problem has an easy solution. have them tint your windows with you inside and drive the car nonstop for a couple of days. you could sleep in there anyway, i'm sure a few people will.

you might even be able to fold down the back seat and get out through the trunk

Ok, thanks. I just read the manual and it said that if this feature is out of calibration the window might not go down or up but the owner can recalibrate it themselves and it gives instruction on how to recalibrate them. Maybe there is a way to get it out of calibration before getting the windows tinted.

Page 164 of the manual shows 2 fuses, 1 for the right front window motor and 1 for the left front window motor. Maybe pulling these fuses will keep the window from dropping and rising. Then they can be put back after the tint dries.

So........when it's pouring down rain, the inside of the car will get wet for a bit until the window automatically rolls back up?

It happens when you open the door. If it is pouring rain the inside will get wet from the door being opened more than the window cracking open an inch.

I don't think people paid attention when I answered this the first time. There's a sensor in the doors to let them know the door is open. (A button). You just tape it over for a few days. Viola.

I know this part of the tinting questions passed a little while ago but When I had my 89 Gt it cost me 150 for the best quality tint and a good job....but when I got an estimate up here in MA for my 2002 xterra for the front 2 windows i got a quote off 120 bucks from the same place...I ended up visiting a friend in FLA and got the same tint job w/ the same quality tint for 40 bucks...my gf got her 5 windows done for 100 bucks...so it depends on where you live i would think
