Will a Steeda Shifter Ball (or other) add a little height to the stock shifter?

Will a Steeda Shifter Ball (or other) add a little height to the stock shifter?

I am not having a major problem with my shifter, so for now, it stays.

However, despite the fact that I am tall, and have long arms, the shifter is a smidge too stubby for me and has me reaching just a bit too far on my 3-5 shifts.

I was wondering if anyone has simply changed the stock handle to a ball (I like the old-school look of the black or white ball) and found that it added a little height to the shifter. It wouldn't take much to make it just right for me. Moving my seat forward is not an option. I am 6'2", and have loooong legs.

Also, if anyone has a nifty way of holding the boot up let me know. The ***** I am looking at do NOT come with a retainer kit. I am asuming the stock shaft is not very nice to look at when exposed, correct?

Lastly, opinions: white or black ball?? (black car, charcoal int)

Thanks!

Check with Bruce Roosa at koolknobs.com for an adapter to hold the boot up.
I believe he charges 25 bucks.

I don't know if mine added any height, but I suppose you could underscrew (sp?) the **** a bit.
I'b be worried that it would snap off though.
