Will the Shelby GT500 brakes fit with 20" Saleen wheels?

It's time for some new brakes, and I'm trying to determine which route to go. I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the FRPP / Shelby GT500 brakes will fit under the 20-inch 7-spoke Saleen wheels without interference. I know that the Saleens came factory-equipped with 14" Stoptech brakes; is there a difference, in terms of fit, between them and the GT500's Brembo's?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I assume they would since the GT500 wheels are 18" where yours are 20" so there is more than enough clearance and your Saleen wheels' offset should be the close if not the same as the GT500's.

If these are the Saleen wheels that went on Saleen cars then yes I think they would. I don't know exactly but the Saleens also have their own big brake kit on their cars. I think its a Stoptech brake kit, but its similar to the Brembo on the GT500. If it will fit over the Saleen brakes, my guess is it will fit over the GT500's.

Don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that Saleen 19" Parnelli Jones wheels may not fit over the GT500 brakes. When I was looking into getting the PJ wheels for my GT500, everyone I contacted said they would fit, but when I mounted the wheels I found that the front brakes barely brushed against the wheels. I needed 1/8 spacers to resolve the issue. Check the backspace and offset against the stock wheels.

The issue actually is not the offset or backspace, though that plays a role. When fitting the wheels, they can either be too small in diameter (not a problem with pretty much any 20" wheel, and shouldn't with any 19" wheel) clearing the radial dimension of the upsized disc and caliper, but also the inside face of the spokes clearing the outer face of the caliper. It's the latter that's usually a problem, especially with the Brembo or Saleen/Stoptech kit.

I have the Saleen branded Stoptech kit and they fit fine on my 20" wheels in both directions, and can't imagine the GT500 brembo setup being that much thicker. The 20" Saleen wheels should fit just fine. If not, as mentioned a thin spacer (which TireRack included for my ASA wheels and which haven't given me a problem) should probably fix that. I got my kit when they were on fire sale for $900, now they're $1600 on ebay.

You can see in the second picture where it says 'Saleen', it's that area that will often not be cleared by the backside of the spokes. Even the Godspeed Omegas, which have a massively deep dish and offset to push them to the edge of the fenderwell, will clear that area due to the design of the center hub-mating surface.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I'm going to go ahead and order this kit. As CO_VaporGT_09 stated, I can always get wheel spacers if I need a little more clearance. Looking at the comparison picture, though, I doubt the GT500's Brembo kit is any wider.

It's a great kit, but I will say the standard pads that came with them were the dustiest, dirtiest things. Coated the wheels immediately. Replaced them with EBC Redstuff (high performance street or occasional track us) are much better, just a bit squeaky, but next to no dust and worked great on the track.

PM Jedcranium. He has a set of new in box Saleen brakes that were never installed. He bought them a while back and then decided to go with Roush 6 piston set up.
