will 300hp be enough?

Now, I have seen the GTO (Five to be exact) and I gotta tell you, I'm not impressed. It just reminds me of an overdone cavalier. Oh and those five GTO's, sitting on FORD used car lots. Great ain't it?

Yeah I nearly laughed my **** off when I saw the first one. After that I just kind of assumed that they had some kind of problem and just felt sorry for the GM fanboys and their Aussie? American Muscle Car. :notnice:

i thought about this...............300hp is a great number to start with because sooon we'll be able to mod the car. a more powerful engine means the car will be more expensive and they wanna keep the price of this car hanging around $28,000. cuz if it went over $30,000 the GTO would be mine

Mustang fan boy criticism? If you haven't noticed, it's hardly just fan boys criticizing the GTO's bland styling. Magazine reviews haven't been too positive about the styling (although most say it's not bad). The public has had its say by not going out and purchasing very many of the GTO's.
As a car, the GTO is, well, nice. It does, however, look like any typical base model pontiac. Just because a car is a sleeper, it doesn't mean it has to be uninspiring. And if they were going for a sleeper car, why did they call it the GTO?

To take it a step further (and let the flames follow), the GTO has more than one similarity to the current Mustang from an appearence perspective. I don't find either ugly, but both are unspectacular in the sheet metal department.

I was referring to the 99-04 models. The 2005 Mustang is the first Ford in a few decades that would bring me to the Ford showroom. The new Mustang has the retro style that the GTO should have embraced. The GTO is a great car under the sheet metal, but to make it desirable in my eyes they should have taken some risks with the styling rather than creating an OK car and throwing GTO on it.
Is it any wonder why GM is losing huge chunks of the market? Do they have anything exciting in their stable these days? Even the new vette which is techincally superior to the previos looks pretty much like the stuff they kicked out 10 years ago.

Well, I wouldn't exactly say that the Vette is decades behind the GT.
When a Vette costs a third of the price and puts out 80% of the horsepower that the GT does (and naturally aspirated at that), I wouldn't say the Vette is behind.
Granted, the GT would blow the Vette away on handling (mid-engine), but the Vette is a very nice car for the price.
