any dealership can decide not to accept x plan. But you're right, it's not Ford tellin them not to.

My understanding is if they accept the plan on one model, they have to accept the plan on all models.

That's not exactly true. For instance I know many, if not all dealerships are not accepting x-plan for cars in stock, but they are if you order...

...if you have a piece of paper that you and the dealer signed saying they will accept Xplan, then it is my understanding they cannot go back on that. Especially after a $1000 deposit has been given to them.

Call Ford Customer Service. Explain the situation to them. They should be able to help you. Email is easy to ignore. A phone call is not. The dealer gets a copy of the report the customer service person creates during the phone call. If nothing else, they will see you called them and they will get scared and cave. Likely the ford rep will come in and talk to your guy...

I'd find another dealer who will accept the plan. It is pointless to argue with the dealer. They aren't obligated to accept the plan, especially on a hot-selling car like the Mustang. They can make too much money selling them at sticker.

and that is another reason for your deposit to be a refundable type! Because you never know what may happen ddown the road with your ordered car or the dealer

There is a report of someone on this site having their car sold out from under him after it came in. He may of had a X-plan price, but the dealer saw $$$$ and sold it to someone else. I know it was wrong, but what can you do, except hope they will be honest with you.

Nope. Here's the list of excluded vehicles at this time. The text is copied straight from the Ford Partner website:

Current excluded vehicles include F-450 through F-750 Super Duty, E-450, E-550, Escape Hybrid and Aston Martin vehicles. This list of excluded vehicles is subject to change.
If the dealer is telling you Ford has excluded 2005 Mustang, he's lying. The '05 is featured prominently on the first page of the site after you log in. He's blaming Ford so that he doesn't have to take the heat for it.

EDIT: One more thing: if you click over to FordDirect.com from FordPartner.com, the inventory listings show the x-plan price as well as the MSRP. If it wasn't available under x-plan, why would they show it?

that just makes me sick. Ford dealers arent going to be #1 by screwing their loyal customers by trying to make a few extra thousand bucks
