Why in Midwest a few Mustang GT's on lots
While patiently waiting my ordered GT, I decide to look at the FORD website. Why when you do a dealer inventory search in the Midwest, you find dealerships with 5 - 10 mustangs. Very few with Mustang GTs. But if you do a search down south, Geargia for example, you find dealerships with 30 - 50 mustangs on the lots. Some with 10 - 20 Mustang GT's. Why is there such a difference in allocations throughout the country??? I want my car!!! The money is just sitting there burning a whole in my pocket. Errrr those corvettes are starting look nice. OK, I'll keep waiting for my Mustang but come on, lets get going here. :bang:
This dealership has 70 Mustangs between 05's and 06's

Here's probably the largest dealer in Minnesota. And, no Mustang GT's

I dont know but I would have to think it has to do with the fact more can be sold in the south on account of the weather. During the winter months not as many people are interested in a Mustang V6 or otherwise. In the south though, with no snow they are always able to move. Would be kind of pointless to have a 30 back stock of GTs going into winter at a dealership up north and have dealers from the south calling daily to have cars moved 1000 miles. Sucks for me, because I want to see those stangs but most dont. At least thats my logic.
I'm in GA. And they are building inventory because some dealers are still trying to get 5K OVER Sticker. They aren't getting that. I picked up my GT last night (ordered on X-plan) and they had 4 more GT's on the lot. They've been consistantly keeping about 5 GT's on the lot between selling one and getting one in.
Another dealership by my office in Atlanta has had 3 GT's on the lot for at least a month.
If you're really anxious, start calling dealers in the SE and buy one off the lot and drive it home.

I agree to a point. But this is how the lots have looked all spring and summer. For example, Apple Valley Ford (the larger dealership in Minnesota) has not yet had a GT on the lot for sell yet between the 05's and 06's. All allocations for the GTs at this particular dealership have been orders. They have had 1 or 2 back out of an order which allowed them to sell on the lot. I just think they could sell more GT's up hear. I don't believe it's just because of the cold weather either. Look at Omaha, St Louis, Chicago, those cities as well don't have large selections.
Here in Maryland, if you see a GT on the lot, it's because someone ordered it and they never picked it up. WHY! One I saw was apparently a mistake in the order, so they shipped it for retail. Nice, red interior package and all.
It was the same story last year. While we all waited in the Midwest for months, dealers in the south (texas & florida for example) had them sitting on lots.
It probably has to do with the allotment those southern dealers get, as they probably sell more mustangs there.

There are 2 local dealerships that have had GTs on the lots for sometime. One in particular has been there for about a month. Kind of odd, since we have had unusually warm weather for this time of year so I would think the weather might not be that big of a factor.
I am in the heart of the midwest. We have had 12 GT's for 2006 so far; 11 of which I sold to TMS members. We have one GT vert in stock which is a cancelled Z-plan order. I do not anticipate any GT's for stock until spring as all allocation is going to sold orders.
Conversely, we get all the 4x4's we want and they are controlled down south.
Ford puts the product where it traditionally sells.

Wouldn't you think Ford could sell more units if they allocated to the north early in the model year. And then shift to the south as winter approached. I've only seen 1 2006 GT on any lot here. And that was a cancelled order from May.
140 days and waiting

Lets look at it this way,,,The south and the west coast always had greattttt allocations.....I am sure they have sold many 1999-2004 stang Gts and so their allocations are much better....Because up in the north and other parts never sold many stang Gts...But now the Nothern states wants all the Gts that they can get,but I really don't think they will get many because of past yearsssss.Take a drive down south or have it shipped because when spring comes around you will still have the same problem...JohnnyT
In case anybody is looking and close to the area, I saw a Vista Blue GT Prem coupe at Vincennes Ford in Vincennes, IN. It's a 5spd with 64E's, shaker 1000, sticker is $30K. Nice looking car. I did not buy from this dealer but test drove an 05 MG GT there. Based on that experience, I would guess they will want sticker for this car.
