Just wondering who has had there car over 130? Ill go first I did it while dusting a corvette.
If it was a new one, he just wasn't trying, those puppies can fly...

Only been up to 140 and a few once myself, and it felt very stable. Been over 120 bunches of times, but gas mileage gets really, really ugly over 100.

Usually cruise to work between 85-105, depending on traffic and weather.

I'm driving the speed limit for awhile because I got 2 speeding tickets in 3 weeks. 60 in a 35 and 91 in a 60. I decided I liked driving my car and staying out of jail. So if my tickets get dismissed, it's right back to speeding!

Thank you. You get the award for the most intelligent statement made in a long time.
Why thank you...

I can remember a few years ago returning from a 3 month deployment in Germany and getting on the road the next day to go visit the folks... after driving on the Autobahn, I found that American drivers are AWEFUL.

Driving the speed limit on the left lane is NOT proper highway driving... and states even have signs... "Slower cars keep right"... but grandpa in his Delta 88 thinks that if he is doing the limit, he is not slower... in fact, if someone is behind you and the traffic isnot heavy and you are in the left lane, MOVE OVER!

Oh, and when someone flashes the high beams, that is NOT rude, that is the auto-equivilant of "excuse me".

It is very very rare for someone to pass me in the right lane. If they are, they probably driving a little dangerously...

Oh, we could start a whole 'nother thread on this, but what you say is exactly true. If I'm in the left lane doing 90mph and someone comes up on me doing a hundred... I put on my blinker and move into the right lane to let them by.
The only time I get passed on the right is if I'm in the left lane and someone driving faster is already quickly approaching in the right lane. Then I stay put, no need to cut them off and create a hazard.

It is cool to take your time, especially when you know your car is fast and don''t have to prove it. You also collect many more admiring glances. Drive fast and you get attention from the wannabee jerks who want to prove their little cars can beat you. The law also takes close notice too.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Though I will add that I saw in someone's sig on some board a while back, "It's more cool (cooler?) to drive a fast car slow, than a slow car fast"

So true. People shake their heads when a Civic blows by them, but they twist their necks looking at a nice car they're passing.

I stay on the slow lane sometimes so I won't get hit by rocks flying at highspeed. If the road is clear ahead of me then I have fun!

DITTO - Avoiding rock chips and looking for the clear areas on the freeway... :nono:

I know I can go fast... and dont need to prove it.

Its the nice calm lane with less people jocking for position, as you see in the fast lane and middle lanes.

Now when I am trying to keep ahead of a tractor trailer or dump truck... fast lane it is...

I actually keep in the fast lane to avoid the massive number of people that don't know their turn signal from their brakes.

I don't necessarily drive in the "slow" lane, but I do keep near the speed limit. My GT is retina ruining red with a red interior to boot, and just begs for attention; wanted and unwanted. Plus I try to avoid rock chips, etc. And, like others have said, it gives everybody else a chance to get a good gander at d' ride. I normally try to keep at least 5 lengths front and back and nobody to the sides.

Every time I pass a 2005 Mustang on the highway they are always going 55, or very close to it.

For the longest time i couldn't figure out why?
You do have a Mustang after all, why not use it.
With my 1999 i'm always flying. 55 is just too darn slow.

So why do you 2005ers keep a low crusiing speed?
I think i've finally figured it out. It's something that my 1999 does not have.
And please correct me if i'm wrong.

The answer is.....
The TRIP COMPUTER!
You're constantly looking at it, trying to keep the fuel burn to a minimum.
Which equals to no speeding for you. Expect for the occasional sprint of course.
The TRIP COMPUTER!

Yes yes, I love that feature

I guess it really depends. For me, every 99-04 Mustang I see is cruising in the slow lane, not the '05's. But then again, I don't see a lot of '05 stangs around here. I personally am ALWAYS the fastest car on the road, especially the interstate. It's at the point where if someone ever does try to pass me (which may happen once every couple months) I get offended. Not because I HAVE to be the fastest... it's just that if someone actually tries to keep up with me or actually pass me... it's one of those people who wouldn't normally drive that fast.

By the way, this has to be the dumbest thread I've come across in a long time. For someone to see a few '05's driving slow and try to sterio-type all '05 Mustang drivers as slow because they are watching the trip computer? I mean, seriously now... next time try to spend a little more time trying to "figure it out". If someone doesn't speed, it's because it's either not their nature, or they are trying not to get a ticket.
