Every time I pass a 2005 Mustang on the highway they are always going 55, or very close to it.

For the longest time i couldn't figure out why?
You do have a Mustang after all, why not use it.
With my 1999 i'm always flying. 55 is just too darn slow.

So why do you 2005ers keep a low crusiing speed?
I think i've finally figured it out. It's something that my 1999 does not have.
And please correct me if i'm wrong.

The answer is.....
The TRIP COMPUTER!
You're constantly looking at it, trying to keep the fuel burn to a minimum.
Which equals to no speeding for you. Expect for the occasional sprint of course.

I do it because i already get enough attention from the cops, but i do not go 55, im between 75-80 (which is slow for our freeways lol)

Nope, mileage has nothing to do with it.

Not that I always drive in the slow lane, but I do enjoy a lesurely cruise enjoying a awesome car, listening to 70"s classic rock and taking in the scenery. Enjoying Life !!

Even after having this car for 9-10 months, it's amazing the amout of looks, stares, head turns, thumbs up and smiles I still get. I even had a state trooper pull up beside me the other day giving me a thumbs up sign and smiling.

And yes, at times, I'll use the right foot real heavy and their all looking at the rear end view.

Haven't had this must fun in 30 years !

I'm in the slow lane...but usually doing 120km/hour

Even speeding 20 over (which is actually acceptable...) I still get great mileage on the highway...

I use the fast lane too

Dont know about anyone else's car but mine doesn't settle in till 85 or 90 MPH. That is where Betty feels the best.

It is really tough not to speed in these cars, driving in the "slow" lane helps us keep it under control.

OR... perhaps we are just lurking in wait to ROMP on little rice-burner.

I'll be setting the cruise to appropriate speeds. I remember when I had my '69 - I might as well have had a neon sign on my back that said, "PLEASE WRITE ME A TICKET!"

Of course, my driving habits at that tender age helped me make that sign

I actually drive slower in my Mustang than I do in other cars (not 55 of course... speed limit is 70 around here, so I go 75-80).

Driving a Red Mustang, I know that the cops would always pull me over, so I guess I'm a little more careful.

As far as that fuel economy graph in the message center, I had to switch it off that thing... it was depressing

I stay on the slow lane sometimes so I won't get hit by rocks flying at highspeed. If the road is clear ahead of me then I have fun!

There is one stretch of road on my trip to and from work everyday where I'm sure people think the same of me. Its a 4 lane road in the middle of construction, but right now its wide open and they arent doing anything on it, but still has the 35mph speed limit with cops hiding throughout the stretch, so I go 35-40 and watch people pass me all day long on it. I'm sure they are thinking...slow mustang... but then as I pass them pulled over down the road I am thinking ...sucker!... In a period of 3 months since the road has been opened to 4 lanes but still a construction zone, I see people pulled over at least 3 times a week, and since I know better those people aren't me

Driveing in the slow lane gives other people more time to stare at your car.
