Same here. Fell in love with the '05, test drove it, fell harder. Couldn't swing it until too late for an '05, so ordered an '06. If I don't like the 64E wheels, I'll just change the order, which you can do up 'till you get serialized if I understand correctly. In the meantime, I can get a full refund on my deposit at any time.

Unless there is a commodity issue, a change can take place up to 10 WORKING days prior to production unless it is locked in. This means normally the order would have to be changed at 12 or so working days to give Ford time to accept it. Hope this helps.

P.S. the only things you can NOT change are body type and pep package [e.g. deluxe or premium]. Plus a TOTAL of 6 changes are all that are allowed for a scheduled order.

I ordered my 06 because the dealers in my area that have GT verts are all asking over msrp. They are no longer taking orders for 05.

I did find one dealer with a 05 GT vert that was not pre-sold, nor had been built. I could have taken it at msrp and had the car in August/September. But the 06 was only $400 more and hopefully will get it in October. Didn't see any point in getting an 05 with nearly a year of depreciation when I could have an 06 for a little more money and slightly longer wait.

I ordered my 05 in June 2004, and did not test drive one or even see one until I picked mine up in Oct. I went with the optional rims, but now wish I had the bullitts. Other than that, I am very happy with my choice, and would do it again all over.

I skipped on the initial rush to order an 05, instead waiting for info on the GT500. I've recently decided that I don't wanna wait that long and that it would be extremely difficult to get one at MSRP the first year. So that brought me to a couple of months ago, close enough to wait for an 06. Besides I really liked the look of the Redfire Mustang GT showcar with the polished fanblades. I was hoping to get that look, although now it seems the fanblades will be a dull color with only polished edges. Oh well, better reason to buy new rims and tires for summer and keep the dull fanblades for winter with winter tires.
FYI....The showcar was actually torch red.

It was the 2004 Detroit Auto Show, where they officially unveiled the production Mustang. I also saw it at the Philly Auto Show in 04. Loved the Redfire/Polished rim combo.

I think those rims are sweet. Wish I could have gotten them on my 05. But then again, I'm just glad that I am lucky enough to be getting an 05.

My .02

Ordered an 05 GT on 2-19-05 with 7 orders ahead of me at that time. Well, the week of June 24th rolled around and I was finally number one in line and the bastages didnt pull me! I missed the boat.

I made sure to let them know ASAP that I would wait for an 06. I am still number one and am waiting (again ) for my order to be pulled.

I ordered the car based on articles and reviews. I hadnt even seen one in person. I Finally got to drive a lot lizard GT that I actually tried to buy (didnt think the 05 was gonna come and I was right) but some donkey named jack offered one of the other salesman on a different sales team more $$$ and they sold it out from under me :bang: I had a contract, a deposit and had been approved for financing. Drove there to pick the car up (it was still sitting there all shined up too ) and was told "ITS SOLD". What a dirty dirty trick that was. This after already waiting in C & U land for 12 weeks

Well, there's my hardluck story. For whatever reason, I was meant to have an 06. Im actually OK with that now.

Anyways, the reason I ordered a car is I got it for $750 over invoice when the rest wanted MSRP and if you could find one local, they were looking for the $5000 market adjustment. :notnice:

This sounds off topic now that Im thinking about it... wait, what was the question???
