I’ve talked to or visited 7 different dealers in the north Atlanta metro area in the last few weeks looking for an 05 GT vert. I found 2 at different dealerships and both were 5k over msrp and they didn’t want to deal. So started pursuing 06 orders with the same 7 dealers. All but 2 wanted 1-2k over msrp for 06 GT vert. order. (they’ll order the coups at msrp but not the verts.)

I went back to one of the dealers last night and ordered my 06 at msrp. Got the vehicle order confirmation and they are supposed to fax the dora today after they place the order. They guessed October for delivery (purely a guess). They said I was the first order for an 06. Everything looks good except my priority on the voc is 88. I asked why that was and that I heard anything over 20 was bad news. They said it would not impact anything and I’d get the first 06.

The dealer I ordered from had about 10 v6’s in the lot. I noticed they had some sheets for unsold GT’s posted on the office wall. There were 3 and they were all manual coupes that had not arrived. In addition they also had a GT vert. with all the options (like what I ordered) that had not been built and they offered to sell it to me for msrp. They said they could change the color options to match my preference since it had not been built. I decided to go with the 06 because the 05 and 06 had the same specs/options but there was only a $400 difference in price for the new model year. I’ll have to wait slightly longer for the 06 but I think it will be worth it.

I am wondering if my priority is not lower because this dealer still has 05’s not built and not sold yet? Would that make a difference for the priority I got for an 06? And what are others seeing for 06 orders, are the dealers coming off msrp or will the trend continue? Thanks.

I bet Tidwell was one of the hiney hole dealers.
Anyway, I need to email my dealer and get my priority number.
If you didn't put a deposit down call Joe Headley at Alan Vigil Ford, it's in Morrow (a little below the airport), they accept x-plan for GT's on their lot and orders. They might even have some on their lot. You could probably get an pin number from hiznherponies. I know he has some to give out.

Let him know Ryan sent you. That way I get $50 bucks from Joe, hiznherponies gets $50 from Ford, and you get about $2000 discount.

But call him first 678-364-3127 before you cancel your other order.

You can also try Glenn Rainwater at John Bleakly Ford in Douglasville. They accepted X-plan on my 05 Coupe last September and he was great to work with. Good luck.

The priority code you got really makes no difference if it is the only 06 Mustang order in the system for that dealership. Most dealers don;t use numbers that high but it's a moot point if you are the only order.

I've bought two gt verts. One from Jerry Singer @ Gene Evans at x plan. The other was bought in South Carolina near Charleston @ Lowcountry Ford. I know Lowcountry has two GT verts @MSRP. One is red and the other is sonic blue. Lynn Moran is the man to talk to about those. His #843 364 5295. Either way let them know Eric Grigg sent you!

The woodstock dealer has a black 05 gt vert on the lot. I do not believe there was any markup on it.

I did put my deposit down so I'm locked in at this point. Thanks for the suggestions though.

The GT vert in Woodstock was one of the ones 5k over msrp.

Hey John, one thing to make sure of is that on your buyers order that shows the price you are agreeing to on your order, MAKE SURE you have it signed by a manager at the dealership. I ordered my GT Vert from Team Ford at Northpoint, and at the time of delivery the Sales Manager tried to increase the price to include a mark up because my buyers ordr was not countersigned by a Ford Manager. After arguing with him that I ws not paying a mark up he decided not to sell me the car at all since I was going to be a "disgruntled customer". Eventually I talked with the General Manager and got the car at my ordered price. Bottom line....make sure you get buyers order signed!!!

Are you in the Woodstock area?

I'm in Roswell. Northpoint was the first I tried to deal with since they are closest. They wanted 2k over msrp for a GT vert. 06 order. I'm glad to hear you got them to come through for you on the price.

I did get all the pricing including tax, license etc. on the order and I worked directly with the finance manager and he signed it. The sales guy didn't really do anything but hand me off to the finance guy who did all the work LOL.

Mall of Georgia Ford in BUFORD has 2005 Legend Lime GT convertible on the ground for $1000 OFF MSRP. They are offering all Mustangs at $1000 OFF MSRP for the 4th of July. I met with Lee Newton and drove the Legend Lime. He confirmed that the sale was only supposed to be on V6, but since the GT windshield was painted with the $1000 discount they would honor it. I made it clear that my intention was to ORDER a 2006 and he went to the desk to verify again that they would stand by the advertisment.

2006 GT ORDER for $1000 OFF MSRP!

That was Wednesday. He emailed me to let me know he needed a commitment before the weekend to lock in the $1000 discount.

Here is his last email:

"Hi Ron,

It was good to meet with you too. The breakdown is like this:

MSRP

- $1,000 (discount)

+ $479 (dealer fee)

+ sales tax

+ $21.00 (title fee)

+ $3.00 (GA warranty rights act fee)

Thanks a lot,

Lee

I was told this morning that I need to complete this by Friday to justify the discount. I will be here all day today and on Friday till 5:00 pm."

They whole do it by Friday or no deal could be typical card dealer stuff, but obviously they would be looking for a reason not to honor that price on a 2006 GT. I can tell you this.... if you go there during the 4th of July sale and the GT windshield still says $1000 off.... Lee will make it happen on an order.

Nice, clean well run place. Lee is very professional. As of Wednesday they had no 2006 GT Convertible orders, so you could be first in line!

I test drove the black manual vert at Woodstock. Negotiated briefly -- they offered sell at MSRP, knocking off the $5k and the $1.5k paint pkg (joke). Decided to order an automatic, but Woodstock would not accept X-plan. Ordered from Mtn View Ford in Chattanooga. Priority 10! Good to be in the waiting room.
