Why have some of you already placed your order for the 2006 Mustang? Is it because you fear Ford won't fill your order?

I don't understand how someone can order a car without even knowing what the wheels will look like. Would it be that detrimental to wait a few weeks (hopefully days) until Ford has the 2006 on their website, then order the car.

So basically I'm asking: why the rush to order?

Perhaps you should ask the folks that ordered an '05 in November and received it in May (or found that their order was cancelled).

I ordered a vert, and I'd like to take delivery before it's too cold to put the top down.

First of all, I figured the sooner I ordered, the sooner I'll get the car. I ordered from Teri at Mossy Ford in San Diego. She didn't require a deposit and even told me that if I decided against the car when it arrived, it was no problem. They'll have no difficulties in selling it for probably a higher price. I knew I wanted an '06 because of the availability of Tungsten gray and the 18" wheels. I'm not too concerned with whether the fanblades are chrome, machine polished, or painted; just that they're fanblades. We know from the order guide that they are. So basically, I don't see that it is detrimental to order early, at least not in my case.

I ordered an 06 vert and would have liked the 18" bullits, but they are late availability, which could mean next spring, and I don't want to wait that long.

I will probably go with something aftermarket anyway.

What Mark said

I already test drove an '05 so I know I want the car... I've seen the pics of the Tungsten color and the fan blades and liked them both.

I'm HOPING the fanblades are machined and not polished, but either way I'm absolutely sure I could sell them on Ebay and get aftermarkets if I choose to. Someone out there with an '05 will probably want them

P.S.

Could someone please tell me what ICAP means? I see that on a lot of sigs and just don't know what it is... thanks

Heck...I'm mad at myself for not getting on the list for the '06 SOONER...I got on Karpro's order waiting list on April 7th and was told I'd be waiting till January or later. If I had gotten on his list back in February I'd probably have the car by October or November.

Shannon,

I just ordered today from Teri too! Tungsten Grey, Fanblades as well. I also like the no deposit deal, they know they'll sell that thing in less than 24 hours anyways. The countdown begins!

1) I've basically been lusting for an S197 since I saw one up close and personal last December.

2) My wife lost her job so I had to wait until she got a new one. By that time, it was too late to order an '05

3) I wanted a Pony version and Vista Blue anyway (don't like Sonic). That locks me into a 2006.

4) My daily driver is barely hanging on. The sooner I order, the sooner that car is retired and I'm driving my Mustang.

I skipped on the initial rush to order an 05, instead waiting for info on the GT500. I've recently decided that I don't wanna wait that long and that it would be extremely difficult to get one at MSRP the first year. So that brought me to a couple of months ago, close enough to wait for an 06. Besides I really liked the look of the Redfire Mustang GT showcar with the polished fanblades. I was hoping to get that look, although now it seems the fanblades will be a dull color with only polished edges. Oh well, better reason to buy new rims and tires for summer and keep the dull fanblades for winter with winter tires.

The rush to order is to reserve a place in line. Most people ordering a 2006 either missed the 2005 cutoff or want one of the new confirmed colors (Vista Blue or Tungsten Grey). I only put down $100 and it's refundable at any time. Chances are my vehicle won't be built until well after 2006 Job1 anyway. By then, all the official Ford information on wheels, etc...will be available and I can change the order options at any time without losing my place in line. At least, that was my reasoning.

I placed my order for the 2005 before FORD even released a picture of it. So what I'm saying is why not rush the order. THe longer you wait to order the longer it will take. You will not get a car 2 weeks after ordering it.

Same here. Fell in love with the '05, test drove it, fell harder. Couldn't swing it until too late for an '05, so ordered an '06. If I don't like the 64E wheels, I'll just change the order, which you can do up 'till you get serialized if I understand correctly. In the meantime, I can get a full refund on my deposit at any time.

I ordered my 06 early in hopes of getting it for some "Fall" driving before it goes into the garage for the Winter. I realize that may not happen, but didn't see any reason to wait. I opted for the stock 17" wheels, going with aftermarket 18's anyway, and didn't order one of the new colors...so waiting for the Ford website to be updated didn't come into play for me.

Not looking forward to the wait...but it seems I have plenty of company

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. It's just that I don't understand the logic behind not waiting and seeing if the wheels look good with a said color. I want to see how the color will look with the fanblades.

By the way, you do know the Mustangs equipped with the 18" wheels will have specific suspension tuning for that wheel/tire combo, right?

You got that right! You definitely should have gotten on his list sooner. Just look at my sig, (which I need to update)I had ordered a 2005 Sonic Blue GT but due to his dealers low allocation for Mustangs my order has now become a 2006 Tungsten Grey GT with the same options.
