Who has removed their cats?

I know its illegal and for Off-road use only, but I was just wondering what gains can you expect by removing the cats on the top end?

Also is the exhaust noise increased drastically?

I've done it and the consesus as far as power seems to be about 8HP. The sound increases dramatically at wot and moderatly when idling or crusing.

If you want to get one I recommend getting the "Pypes O/R H" from Brenspeed. Only $169 and free shipping.

Click on "my videos" located at the bottom of my sig to hear what it sounds like. Warning video doesn't do it justice.

My cats were gutted and the sound was louder. It was too loud for me that I took off the JBA's and installed the stock mufflers. My wife says she wants it to be loud. I try the JBA's again and see how it is now that the tune was fix.
Only other problem is the smell and id gets on your clothes ans stinks.

The smells only a problem if your sitting a light with your windows down. I drive with my windows up 90% of the time so I guess that's why it doesn't really bother me.

My cats were neutered and spayed. They make the same noise and still smell up the cat box .

The exhaust from an off-road pipe is an aphrodesiac

Maybe someone should bottle it up and sell it as a manly cologne fragrance in a department store.

I think I noticed a little more umph when I hit the gas from removing the cat's. It gave my exhaust a raw aggressive sound, it's pretty loud but not too loud for me. It's is one of the best mod's I have to the car so far

I ran with no cats on a previous car and yes... the smell does get into your clothes. You might not smell it but other people will. Luckily someone told me about the smell and I put the cats back on, and no problem.

Not worth the small gain you might get.
