Seeing as getting a new 05 faded away, looks like getting a used one is my next best option. I hope to have one by February or March at the latest. What do you think the market will be like for used 05s then? Do you think they will depreciate much?

Anyone that already has their '05 by now (or still then really) is probably someone who's either ordered the car or gone through a great deal of trouble (and money) to be able to get the car off the lot at a dealership. I really doubt that any of these kind of folks are going to have given up their '05 already at that point.

my guess is summer would be the earliest time to find one, check carmax.com frequently, my guess is they'll be one of the first places to get a used 05.

I know there was one person talked about on this site that had an 05 for ten days and traded it in. If I remember correctly, it was an older guy that didn't like shifting all the time and ended up trading it in on a new truck.
I would not expect one to become available now, but by February...probably a couple will show up on Ebay.

i really dont think they will depreciate all that much until rebates come out, whenever that is.

My guess is you might be waiting a very long time as in years. In my case I will never sell the 2005.

I found a used one already, but the salesman wanted 30k for it. I laughed.

Towards the end of the year you can try and buy demo's from the dealer, problem is they are stingy with the price even though there is mileage on them

Check out the local repo depots as well.... you could luck out if someone couldn't afford to make their payments.

Some dealers sell "rewinds", or that is what dealers call it around here. These are new cars that were sold to buyers that had the deal fall through after the car is driven off the lot. The "rewinds" are near new and can could be had for lower prices. You will have to really hunt to find a '05 Mustang rewind, but they may be out there for milliseconds before someone buys one.

They way I'd approach it is to get the e-mail address of all the Ford dealers in your area and on a daily basis send them a letter with you desire to buy a rewind. Some will get tired of seeing your daily letters and delete them, but in the end you may be successfull.

Winning the lottery may be easier. Good luck.

Well considering that Ford is in the midst of a parts shortage because they low-balled the estimates too much. Also considering that Dealerships can't keep them in-stock, I'm guessing it'll be awhile.
