When and Where was your Engine Built
Okay this might be a goofy topic, but I have seen worse. I looked at my engine tag, located on the driver side of the valve cover, tonight and found when and where my engine was built.
I read awhile back that the Mustang GT engine was to be built at the Romeo Engine Plant. Then the other day I read a thread where the Essex Plant was producing the engine until the Romeo Plant gets up to speed or something.
Well, my engine was build at the Essex Plant in Windsor, Canada and is was built back on Feb. 4, 2004. My engine had to wait for 10 months before placed in the car, the car was built week of Nov. 29th. The decal on the inside of the drivers door has 12/04 on it. So check yours out and lets see where that horses were built and how long before the actual car was built.............
I must have read that engine tag wrong, were they even building these engines in Feb of 04??????????

Chris, I looked at the tag on my engine, and as far as I can detect, your build date for your engine is the first of September, 2004. I took a pic of the tag on mine, which is stickered 15/09/04, which would have to mean the fifteenth of September, 2004. My GT was produced the week of Sept 13th, and I took delivery on October 21st, 2004. So looks like my engine was built the same week as my Stang was being assembled. What do you think? Attached is a pic of the tag on my engine. When I was in the military, the date always started with the day/month/year. Since mine starts with 15, logic tells me this applies in my case.

My engine was built in never never land, oh yah my car was built there too. Just kidding. Still waiting. But I sure would like to know where it was built, and when, and how, and who, and where, and when will it get here.
In Canada they use a reverse of the date and day so you car's engine was built on Sept 1st 2004 not Jan 9th. There is a photo below of another engine that says 15/9/04 so that is not possible. We are so use to the way do our dates all the same the cars are still awsome wherever and whenever the engines were built.
Eric
Check this one out guys - my engine was built on January 9, 2004 at the Essex plant in Canada. Even got a picture of the label for you! My car was seq # 2,117 built on September 3, 2004.

Will the Essex be more collectable? Since it was the early motor, and only for 2005.

Hopefully next week I will be able to go out to my garage and check to see which one I have. Still waiting for my train to come in!

Thanks for straightening me out. A date of September 1 fits right in with my car build date of September 3.
