I thought I'd have my VIN by now, because the lady at Ford Customer Relations told me that my order has a Serialize Date of 10/14 and that Serialize Date means a VIN number now exists.

I called the dealer and they're still telling me that they have no updates whatsoever since I placed the order.

I called FCR back and the guy I talked to says that the Serialize Date does
not necessarily mean there is a VIN number.
I think he was also trying to tell me in a nice way to just call the dealer from now on.
...even though I explained my dealer is not giving me any info at all.

So when a VIN is issued, does FORD automatically send it to the dealer or does the dealer have to go look it up?

 

well, i think they should show up on the status reports, but from what i'm hearing, the status reports that the dealer gets might not have the latest and greatest info. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.
