Wheel lock key

I went to paint my calipers today, and realized that I dont have the key for the wheel lock, I didnt get one when I bought the car. I dont suppose they are universal for all mustangs, so do I have to pick it up at the dealership I bought it from or can I get it at any dealership.

Look for a small white heavy plastic bag in the spare tire well. That's where mine was...

I'd be calling your dealer as these were/should have been installed by your PDI guy unless otherwise instructed.

My key was in a little envelope in the glove compartment.

you could probably use a craftsman bolt out to get if off if you can't find it.

I personally find them useless because a thief is gonna look in the car for the key or you're going to lose the key and then be screwed.

Plus anybody with another 05+ mustang could just use their key if they wanted to steal the rims on your 05+

I just went through this!

I ended up having Goodyear remove all of my wheel locks with a special tool and some elbow grease. It cost me around $20 to have it done. (which I suspect went in to his pocket and not the cash drawer... shrug...)

The Craftsman "Gator Grip" does NOT work. I tried many remedies unsuccessfully before giving up and having a wheel guy help me.

If you don't have your key you are screwed. Just get them taken off your car by a pro (someone you can blame if your wheel gets damaged.)

I used a socket that was a little smaller than the nut and taped it on enough so I could loosen it with a breaker bar.

I think there are more than 1 key design.
Maybe as many as 40...?
Anyway, I have them too.

But I agree, pretty useless item, and more likely to cause ME problems than the hardened criminals stealing my rims/ride...

I just went to the dealer, and there are only about 30 or 40 different lock shapes, so a tech just found the one that fits, and I ordered that key from the parts desk. Have to wait another two weeks to paint my calipers.
