Whats the difference between 05,06,07?

Drive an 05- I got to wondering- does anyone know what the main differences are between the 05s thru 07s? Even 08s all look really similar to me... Is there much of a difference? There doesn't seem to be much.

Don't get the 05, it was the 1st year ford started making the model and everything falls apart! I should know I have the 05 lol and I've had to get a lot of things replaced.

07-09:
Different heads, better one-piece spark plug design.
More sheet metal/welds in key areas and stiffening to accomodate the gt500 engine. (07+ models are a bit heavier)
A arm chassis braces.
my color ambient lighting.
Better coolant hose routing.
thermostat relocated.
No midpipe hangers.
sirius sattelite radio.
electrochromic mirror with compass.
driver and front-passenger heated seats.
six-way power passenger seat.
auxiliary audio input jack.
Strut tower layout changed.
3.31's standard with 3.55 being an optional rear gear.
Updated shifter.
Updated synchros.
premium trim option.
first year for the gt/cs.

That's all I can think of right now.

Think the head design change happened in 08 as my 07, along many others, still have the older style 2 piece plugs.

Too late - I already drive an 05... my last Mustang was an 05 as well- I like them . I was just curious-- But yeah Texastboneking has a point: as soon as we start modding, I guess all bets are off...

They always say never buy the first model year of any new platform. I waited till 06, and it was well worth it. Ive been almost trouble free. I should've waite for 07 but couldn't help myself

A couple of other minor differences. No rear speaker "covers" on later Mustangs (I think just 05 and 06), and no felt/moleskin on window channels/weatherstripping on 05 through mid 07 models. Weren't there differences in the AC controls as well (e.g., it was more difficult to replace the ***** on 07-09 models)?

Mine's an 05 , got it Nov 04 , and I had very few problems that were Factory related. I did have to replace the A/C earlier this year but that's 7 years on it and is to be expected. I live by Steeda and started the mods right away and most problems I've had have been due to mods not some flaw from the factory , and I haven't had many of those. My last mustang was a 90 which I bought new and kept till after I bought this , and I plan on keeping this one at least 15 years too ...

Favorite part of my 05 is being able to roll the windows down with the remote. Totally awesome when its hot outside. Very few that I know of have it. Biggest concern is the cam phasers.

'06 added two new 17" wheels options (fan blades and polished bullits). '07 added a cloth convertible top option as well as the reflector design changed in the headlights. '07 Job2 added the Nav. '08 HID's became an option.

To be exact, the climate control ***** were redesigned for 07-09 models for a better tighter quality feel and smooth racheting for all three ***** during rotation. The ***** are "permanently" attached. On the 05-06 the fan speed **** is more clackety and the temp **** spins free with no ratcheting. The ***** pull off easily The arrangement of the lower buttons is also different. 05-06 is AC/RECIRC/RR DEF while 07-09 is AC/RR DEF/RECIRC.

The early and late designs are fully interchangable and function perfectly, but if you are used to the feel of the 07-09 controls then the 05-06 controls feel like unrefined crap.

05, 06, early 07 have chrome differntial covers.

05, 06, early 07 have front seat side connector straps.

05, 06 had ISAP interior sport appearance package option which included the steering and shifter only in satin silver with no Interior Upgrade Package and MyColor.

Not true. I've had mine for just shy of 97,000 miles on her, and I've only had or replace the cooling fan outside of regular maintenance intervals.
