Oh look, I'm a GT member, now lol.

I have seen cops in my area (mostly highway patrol) using the new Chargers & Magnums in either silver or black. Highway Patrol has gotten more sneaky about catching speeders on the Interstate lately. I caught one guy the other day shooting radar from an Interstate overpass while his buddy catches them on the road. Highway Patrol still uses Camaros, Crown Vics, Blazers, Explorers and even F150s with the Leonard campers on the truck bed. They make it almost impossible to speed on the Interstate now-a-days because you really don't know if the car behind you is a patrol car or not. You really have to do your work when driving on the Interstate if you want to speed and not get busted.

95 in a 70. I-40 in Tennessee around exit 387 heading westbound. TN highway patrolman clocked me doing 95... but I was doing *well* over that. Driving a 1997 Mercury Sable, speedo goes up to 110. I had it flatlined.

Since then, I only go maybe 5-10 over.

just outside ATL airport, been on the ground 35 min total and cruising in my spiffy impala rental. still had my carry on, rental agreement and briefcase on the front seat. got pulled for 85 in a 55.

i straight up told the cop that i wasn't aware i was moving that fast as i tried to read the map around the interstate 75-85-285 layout. he agreed that its a nice ride and mentioned that during a recent test drive of his, he found the new impala v6 "to be deceptively fast."

i got a ticket that i could dispute in court but since i had flown down on business, the odds of me coming back in a month was nil.

i logged on at home to the traffic dept and entered my citation... the fine was $406. yeah, there went the mod money for that month!

This weekend, I lucked out. I was coming home from lunch with a friend and I was going the back paved county roads where there no one drives or any patrol there either. I wasn't being stupid and going 90+, just a nice brisk 65 in a 55. I look in my rear view mirror and see a cop pulling out from a perpendicular dirt road and so I immediately think "Great.... Looks like I just got my 1st speeding ticket!" The cops starts gaining on me so I just thought to myself that I'm busted, might as well face the music. I then pull on the side of the road (cop didnt flash lights or anything) just to show the cop I know I did wrong and I'm ready for the consequence. I get on the shoulder and what does the cop do? HE KEEPS GOING! I'm dumb-founded at this point and figure that he had bigger fish to fry and so I pull back onto the road and go on my merry way right behind the cop that I thought that was going to pull me over.

In 1977 95 MPH in a 40 MPH while rag racing my 63 Buick Riviera w 425 dual quad against a 69 Mach1. That there ticket cost me a 100 dollar fine and a 100 dollar fee to my lawyer (ex-judge) and a 100 dollar bribe to a presiding Cook County Judge (pre-greylord investigation)
My buddy paid the same! The Mach won by the way....

69 in a 55. Over 20 years ago when I was in college. 86 Buick Grand National (GN).

OBTW, I got another one 1 hour later going 67 in a 55. I threw my radar detector on the road in disgust, shattering it. I guess the NC Highway patrol were big GN fans too.

When explaining how I got 2 tickets in 1 hour to my dad, I told him "well I did slow down!" He wasn't impressed with my logic.

138 in a 65 on the Northeast Extension of the PA turnpike many years ago. I had spent the previous three days (and nights) working side by side with my boss setting up a new control system on a super fast track project. I was so glad to be out of there and on my way home that I nailed it when I hit the pike. I only did it for a short blast to get a little hit of adrenalin. As I was coasting uphill I glanced to my right and see the trooper hanging out the window shooting me with radar. I never touched the brakes because I knew I was done for. I continued coasting up the hill and down the other side as he pulled out. He caught up to me about a mile later. I knew I was in trouble when the first words out of his mouth were "Is that rollbar factory equipment?". I was in my Z/28 track car complete with Sparco seats, 5 point harnesses, a roll bar and a nicely seasoned set of Comp T/A R1s. As it turns out the trooper was a huge Chevy fan and was really enjoying my car. After I gave him the tour and explained my previous 72 hours he said he'd let me go with 80 in a 65. He said he would have let me go with a warning if I hadn't been going to crazy fast to begin with. I didn't argue the 80 one bit!

Just last month got nailed for 85 in a 70. Sad to say, I wasn't even passing anybody, just following traffic. The highway patrol had a nice little set up going on, one trooper was on an overpass with the laser and they had a line of cops on the other side hidden by the berm. Who gets picked? The Mustang.

Had court today for 88 in a 55. Fine chick of a Illinois state trooper to boot!
Was worth seing her in court again, but not the 205 fine and 90 days supervision.

Highest was 100/55 in my 84 Celica with 4 people and ski gear going to wisconson. He wrote me the ticket, was nice and didnt take my license. Over mail it got dropped to a 260 fine.

I remember seeing a story online about a guy in Michigan on a bike getting a 205 in a 65. He was on a bike and got the ticket from a plane flying overhead.

Let's see...back in 1970 (eons ago)...I was stopped on a not much used highway (Rt 9) between Middletown and Old Saybrook CT doing about 115MPH (road at 11:30PM was absolutely deserted)...except for one vehicle way up ahead, that's when I passed an unmarked State Trooper on his right and then crossed in front of him...to say the least, my fine was outrageous, and my lawyer fees were astronomical (especially for a 16 yr old) and my father was furious -- since I was under his insurance policy at the time! I was driving a '64 Impala SS convertible (327)...believe me, my '64 Impala was shaking quite a bit a those speeds.

Twin turbo 1994 mustang GT. GPS read 202mph..before he started slowing down.

I don't remember the fines but it was expensive and they wouldn't let him register the car for 18 month after that... but he did end up keeping his license.

100.5 (yep, .5) mph in a 55 zone. Has a fairly new-to-me '73 Capri 2.6 with a fresh set of tires and wanted to see if it would break 100. Unfortunately, got official confirmation that indeed, it would.

Almost got nailed doing 85 in a 50 zone driving my dad's '73 E-Type V12 one lovely Sunday morning on the Eastern Shore of MD way back when. Cop pulled me over in the freshly scrubbed Jag. I just left her purring and the old war horse seemed alternately consternated and impressed. Asked me what I was doing going 85 over the Peachblossom Creek bridge. I know he was girding himself for the usual BS excuses so I figured it best to simply fess up and told him, "slowing down." He was a little flabbergasted by my answer but I think between my honesty -- of course, what else would anybody be doing with a blood-red V12 Jag convertible on a sunny Sunday morning -- and just drooling over the car, he let me off with just a warning.
