From all the retro styling features on the new Mustang, I wanted to post a poll to see what you all thought the new Mustang has for styling ques from the late 60's Mustangs, and which one it is a most accurate "replica" of.

In other words, if someone asked you is this a modern day version of what year Mustang, what would you say?

Wasn't the '65 Shelby the only Mustang to have the rear quarter window (has opposed to a 'vent'/louvers)? I know '67/'68 didn't have a window.

Nope, it was 1966. Only year for 'glass' on the pillar...

The front big fogs and blackout around the head lights = 1969
The front head light fish gills = 1965-66
The side C-scoop = 1965-68
The profile of the coupe's rear roof line =1965-66
The rear quater window = 1966 (Shelby GT350)
The rear spoiler = 1969-71 (Boss/ Mach 1)
The tail lights = 1965-73
The horseshoe rear bumper and racetrack surround = 1965-73

This car has borrowed several styling cues from several years.

Overall:
The front half of the GT = 1969
The front of the V6 = 1965
The rear half = 1966

If modded with lemans stripes = 1966 Shelby GT350.
If modded Boss/ Mach 1 style = 1969.

The style should be credited to the original pony that inspired the rest.
With that in mind I would vote for the 1966 Shelby GT350.

Here is a thread on this subject.

65/66 contributes the most to the '05. No question.
