My 06 hasn't been dinged yet, but I S*#t you not, the first door ding I see with the suspect vehicle still next to me is going to pay!!!!!!!!! I have to be careful because of my line of work, so I may have to just get their tag number and pay a visit at a later date. There is not enough time or space on here for me to describe what I would do. I will say this........The door ding they give me will not even begin to compare with what they get in return.

My family thinks I'm crazy because I do the same thing. Although I've never aborted the shopping like PITPUP!

One time I parked in the remote lot of a store where there were only three cars in the entire section of the lot, I even parked next to an island just in case and as I'm walking away (doing the look back) I see some a$$ park right next to me!

Can you believe it!

None of my vehicles have ever been the best looking to begin with, but even if it looks like a POS, it's MY POS! So don't mess... If the people in the next car don't show common courtesy or care when entering/exiting their vehicle, I will take a key to the paint - down to the metal or stick gum in the driver's side keyhole. Could also run the plates at work - so far, haven't had to do anything since they usually get caught for something else sooner or later.
I definitely avoid SUV's, oversized vehicles, and (other) beaters like the plague whenever possible.

How about a simple punch/kick/bash out the taillights? Just hope they don't have an alarm, and if they do, well hop in yours and hit the highway.

Fight or Flight. I keep a nice hefty 15" wrench within arms reach. Looks innocent to the man, but if some gangsta or something tries so jack me...lights out. Sharp edges too for moron parkers.

Hummm... I dont know....

OK - so as someone already said, some of your guys a psychos! (I mean that in a respectful and endearing way ) So here is my problem with some of your reactions, what if you come back to your car and see a door ding and start slamming on the car next to you; how do you know its the right car/person unless you actually see them do it? There are lots of white SUV's etc. I dont know if exacting your own revenge is such a good idea. I just try to protect my car as best I can and hope for the best, but I dont know if I want to be screaming at a mom in the parking lot of Safeway in front of her kids. Thankfully my kids respect others cars (because I've taught them to) but if some guy was screaming at my wife or threatening her, now THERE's something to take action over....

However, there are some people that look for nice cars so they can ding their doors on purpose.

Its a reverse to my Moms Suburban it has dings everywhere and it has already been broken into two years ago. So I say lock them in a box full of rattlesnakes.

I prefer to hunt them down and demand they move it.
Damaging their vehicle is something they probably won't even notice.
An angry stranger yelling at them is something they will remember.

I recently came back to find a big dent on my driver's side door. The culprit was long gone, and I'd hate to think what I would have done if I had seen it happen.

Watch out, guys! More and more places are installing videocams in parking lots, so don't be too obvious while getting your revenge. If you get hauled into court over it, a judge is liable to see the ding as an accident but the revenge as a crime.

In other words, if you can't be good be careful .

Idiots

Interesting. Seems a few here are blaming everyone but themselves. Most people don't give a d*** about your car or mine. These are the same people that purchase a new car one week and park it where no one else is. Great, right? Sure, they're real proud of that shiny new POS Chevy. The next week, once the novelty wears off, these short attention span idiots are back to their old ways. They follow you through the parking lot, so they can get their fat hamburger and fry's eating a** closest to the the door of that Mall. They don't give a d*** anymore about that frickin Minivan with their screaming 4 kids inside and they don't care about your car that they just whacked the hell out of. All she's thinking about is how the old man and her are going to get it on later and try to create another little SOB to take up that last empty seat. No sense wasting space - right? They're called morons. Watch out, they're everywhere! I've had 17 new cars over the past 35 years and have not had one door ding on any of them. Why? Because I don't give these ignorant, cell phone chatting, multi-tasking, back seat baby screaming, selfish idiot drivers the chance to ruin my POS car. I park far away from anyone wherever I go. I don't mean only in my nicest cars, but all my cars. True, sometimes it's hard to avoid stupid people and God knows I try. Someday I'll post about how I really feel about this, until then park far, far away. Good luck.

...are you serious? I really hope your kidding.

Some people drive and park like s**t but if nothing was done to your car, I don't understand your need of putting knife marks on the car. You don't just go around doing that when someone parks crooked next to you and your wife has trouble getting in.

I'd hate to see what a bada** like you would do to the person that cuts you off in traffic...

Ding Dong

OK everyone wants to get revenge but how do take that sweet revenge when the offending vehicle that has just scraped and dinged your Mustang is also sitting in your own driveway with the matching marks clearly visible? And the driver is most certainly your wife????

Simple, make her buy you goodies for your Mustang! (Should also work if it is the other way around - might even be easier!)

Have her take over the payments for you, she might be a tad more careful if she was the one buying the car.

You smile, grin, and bear it. Your wife is a billion times more important then your car... (I know mine is)

I have to tell a quick one that my friend did. We had gone to lunch in his LR3, when we came out somebody had parked way too close to his drivers side. I asked if he wanted to crawl over from my side to get in, but he declined. He opend his door as easily as he could and rested it on the other car. He then shoe-horned himself in. He then said "You know, if I were a violent person, I would *WHAM!*(this was him slamming his door right into the side of the other vehicle) do that."
The hit didn't even scratch the paint on the LR3, but it put about an 8" crease down the other cars door.
He said,"Oops, that sucks." and we drove off.

I will have to say that I don't do the nasty stuff to other people's cars, but I don't mind really annoying them. I found that a pebble under their valve cap does a great job of slowly letting air out of their tires. Doing it once is annoying, but it gets really fun to do it multiple times. This worked well against someone who had door dinged me at work!
