Can anyone tell me what the magnetic strap is for at the sides of the seats?

it is supposed to help keep your seat belt next to your seat so when you get into your car you dont have to reach all the way back to get it

Ahh that makes sense, because it is like a major pain to reach for that seatbelt. Thanks I'll check it out in the morning

Yeah but there not really strong or anything so usually comes undone unfortunately. At least when I have tried to use it.

The magnet is not strong enough to hold the belt unless your seat is all the way back. If someone can figure out a way to keep the belt in place please share.

I don't have any problems reaching for the seat belt. I thought at first the straps were broken until I saw an interior photo of another guys car, they were hanging too. I just put them on so they don't hang and reach for the belt.

glad i'm not the only one that has the strap not stay on. I was about to ask if anyone else has this problem, I guess so. I am going to see if i can put a stronger magnet in there possibly. Also, I realised that the passenger side one has yet to come undone and I have variouse people in that seat.

Haven't had any problem keeping the strap in place. Make sure that it's snapped in too (it's not just magnetic... it snaps into place as well).

Don't have my car yet but would love to see a pic of what y'all are talking about. Reaching for the seatbelt was the ONLY thing i didn't like about the car on the test drive. Thanks to anyone that can post a pic... :worship:

Mine works just fine, too. It's a real help in getting to the belt. In fact, I miss it when I forget to put it back after vacuuming the interior. Will try to get a pic later.

It works great for me. No problems at all.......in fact, it's really solid. Just make sure it's strapped on correctly.

Here's the strap holding the seatbelt in place. You can unsnap it to get in the back seat........ but I don't know who could sit back there except very small people.

You can put a strong magnet in between to increase the holding strength.
Recently I purchased strong magnets for this purpose @$2.25 each.
I bought NdFeB (Neodymium-Iron-Boron) -- A powerful 'rare-earth' permanent magnet from ; http://www.wondermagnets.com
ITEM 0023 NdFeB Ring, 9/16" OD X 1/4" ID X 1/4 thick"

They work well - but they may attract other metal items in your coat pocket also.

I originally bought these magnets to increase the efficiency on my oil filters.

When I first attached the strap it kept coming off as well. But after futzing with it I found it does "snap", for lack of a better word, into place and holds the strap very securely.
