haha.. i've only read about people doing 15+ mpg.. but i'm yet to see or experience that myself

personally, i've averaged 10-12mpg ever since i got it..
i guess i'm a bit heavy on throttle at all times

just to compare with older stangs. My 99 GT averages 17mpg while doing my daily commute. 17miles each way at roads that are 35-55mph.

And i only have 260hp and couple hundred lbs less. What i would give to swap a 3v into my car. i'd prob never get under 20mpg. lol.

not too bad

I actually get the same gas milage now as I do with my 1991 v6 Firebird . I started out with 14 mpg because A.) I lived 7 miles from work & B.) I was very liberal with the go pedal . Now I work for the same company but switched location's and it's now 25 mi to work(one way) and it's mostly highway. so right now it's at 27 mpg. When I go up to visit my friend in Conn I get 33 mpg!

In my auto I get 15.. in town if I drive fairly decent. ON the highway with the cruise set on 75, I get a shade over 23.
My milage went up about 2 mpg somewhere between 5000 and 7000 miles. (8100 on it now.)

Crappy, and nowhere near what they claim.

19 mpg city
25mpg hwy

Canadian gallons

Dealer says Ford won't even consider a gas milage issue for 15,000km.

Well, I have a big conflict when it comes to driving and the resulting gas mileage. On one hand, the wallet in the seat of my pants doesn’t like the feeling in the seat of my pants upon acceleration.

Unfortunately, the feeling in the seat of my pants upon acceleration wins more than not.

Maybe somebody can explain this one: Drove from Chicago to Madison, WI in September (No A/C) averaged 26.2 MPG with cruise set at 75. Drove from Chicago to St. Louis in February (no A/C) cruise set at 75 couldn't get past 22 MPG. Last week drove from Chicago to St. Paul (once again no A/C) cruise at 75 and got up to 26.7 MPG. I consistanly use Citgo gas 87 octane. Anybody know why I got worst mileage heading south?

Could have been a headwind, that will make a big difference. Or if it was very cold outside, that will affect it as well.

Its obvious!.... Think about it!.... It's the magnetic pull from the Earth! heading north you where driving with it! heading south driving against it!.....

i dunno if this is considered thread "hijacking" but i am looking to get a mustang late fall. well i am in love with the gt, but there is one problem...i will be using it as my daily driver and with the way gas is right now, it seems ridiculous.

so what do you guys think? spend the extra few g's on the 300hp or save money and grab a v6er and save money in the long run?

I think anything would be an upgrade from my current Dodge Neon...poor thing only puts out 130hp.

I wouldn't mind the v6's but I hate the single pipe, no foglights and it seems like I would be missing out on the extra 90hp.

Mine is a daily driver as well V8 all the way!!! Why don't you keep the Neon and use that as a daily driver every now then? You would be missing out more than 90HP in my opinion, V8 baby! Growl....

Oh yeah dont forget the 5 speed!!!!!!!!!!

My gas mileage also seems to improve the more I drive it... I get 22 mpg going on the highway and a little cruising around town... (good thing my commute is only 6 minutes... on foot... )

Curious to see what the (planned) dual exhaust with a K&N filter will do to the mpg...

I Drove easy up to Lake Tahoe from the bay area last friday, filled up on the way hit reset. I took it easy around 65-75 using CC on the way there. On the way home, I was flying...Once out of traffic, I was toying with a lexus....getting on it frequently...hitting triple digits a couple of times. Lake Tahoe to Santa Cruz, (to ski in the am surf pm..ONLY IN CALI) when I got to SC, my mpg was 22.4 which was after really getting on it coming out of the sierras.
After ~30 mi round trip all week in stop and go it is now at 20 *I haven't hit reset since I left for Tahoe.
My gas mileage dramatically improved with The Steeda CAI/tune and exhaust.

4.10 gears, 93 octane tune, combined city/highway mix average is 20MPG. Straight highway with the cruise locked at 80 I could get a solid 23 to 24. Straight city...well let's just not talk about that

The temps were pretty mild, between 40 and 60 degrees. Just thought it was kinda wierd. Will have to make another trip heading south to see if it still can't get past 22MPG.

What is your RPM at 80 with those 4.10's? That seems like pretty gas mileage considering the gearing and all but that premium gas must be a killer!
