I currently run Shell V-Power (93 octane) in my 96 Maxima SE. I plan on using the same with my stang when it comes in.

Mobil...they make good oil, makes sense that they make good gas too.

I could be wrong, but aren't Chevron & Texaco the same company?

I ran BP in my Ford and the gas mileage dropped by 0.5 mpg. I know it dropped because I consistently got 17.3-17.6 mpg for 6 weeks straight running Sunoco 87. I switched to BP 87 for one week and bam, I get high 16 mpg.

F that pedaso de mierta, Hugo Chavez. I love the fact that 7-Eleven took the initiative and is not longer selling his gas.

Don't waste your money on 93 unless you intend on running it with a 93 tune.

I checked Shell because it is usually cheap/close, but I use any of the majors, Shell, Mobil, BP, Exxon.

93 octane will turn the insides of your exhaust carbon-soot black very quickly due to not having all of it burn off.

Does that go for ANY car (He said 93 in his Maxima) or just the highly sensitive Modular 3Vs in our Stangs

I get 5% back through the BP card so I use them. Even if I do get slightly less gas mileage (though I haven't noticed it) I think I still end up ahead.

The way I drive it, doesn't matter what gas I use. It's all bad MPG.

Mostly I run Chevron but I also use Shell as it is cheaper and usually easier to find in my neck of the woods.

BTW, you forgot to add "76" to the list.

I run Sunoco because they are the only one in my area with an Octane rating higher than 92 (they have 94)

Marked Shell since it was listed but also use Sheetz (local) as much - both 93 and no problems

Is this just your opinion, or do you have any facts to back this up? I ask because it sounds fishy to me. I understand that higher octane rating actually burns slower, but having it not all burn in the combustion chamber??? Also, I'm pretty sure I'll never see the insides of my exhaust system, and it is already carboned up.

Lowest octane good for V-6 & V-8?

So are you guys running on regular? Does the lowest octane gas work just as well for V-6 or V-8?

BTW, we usually buy gas at one of the Safeway gas stations in town. They have competitive prices and give us 3 cents off per gallon because we have a Safeway card. Then we use a credit card that gives something like 1% back.

One of the Safeway gas stations was robbed three times by the same goof ball before they caught him.

My owner's manual actually recommended 93 octane, although 87 would be "ok". 24FAN is saying that because the engines are tuned to 87 octane gas. If you put 93 in it, it won't hurt the Mustang, it will just be a waste of money. Now on the other hand, if you get a tune for 93 octane, there will be a performance increase.

P.S. I plan on getting a JLT CAI w/ SCT II from bamachips as soon as my stang comes in and that Christmas bonus check gets cashed. This is in addition to the Borla/FRPP Stingers on their way right now. Am I crazy for having spent almost 500 bucks already on this and other things when my car hasn't even been serialized yet? haha

Nah, I am pretty sure you are in the MAJORITY with that, especially on this forum

I will run 91 (highest readily available gas in my area) when I get my CAI and Tunes installed.
