I hope there aren't any major delays. Now that I've ordered, I want it a.s.a.p!

Hello everyone-
I'm planning on placing an order for a 2005 GT Premium (Sonic Blue/Light Graphite, Automatic, IUP, Side Airbags, Antitheft and Wheel Locks) early next week.
How long does it usually take to get your VIN and Build Date after placing the order? My dealer told me that it usually takes 10 days to get the VIN, and it takes 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. Does this sound about right?
As to the paperwork the dealer will give me on the order...I have X-Plan and he said that he would accept that on a special order (not available on stock vehicles for a few months). Should I ask him to sign off that he offered me X-Plan and have another manager at the dealer sign off on that as well?
The dealer did ask for a $500 refundable deposit to place the order, and also told me that they will hold the check until my car comes in.
Is there anything else I need to know (or any suggestions) before I go to the dealer?
Thanks for the information

Everything you mentioned there sounds like it is on the up and up.

Congrats Dan.

I failed in my mission to get you to order Torch but if you can put up with me and not get Torch, I am sure you are VERY happy with redifre. Congrats.

Too bad it will be snowy when you pick your car up.

Once the snow melts you gotta hit that with a few coats of zaino

Dan has good taste. I'll be buying the same car without the side air bags. I have side air bags in my Honda and they are uncomfortable. Plus I may get racing seats with 5 point belts.

You didn't fail IMO. You caused me to really question my choice and pick the colour that suited "me" more.

I drove the torch red mustang. It is an Awesome colour. You'll love it. But I have grown to love redfire. From the official introduction, the show car, the videos etc. etc. to me the 05 and redfire go hand in hand.

You must believe me, this colour choice was extremely difficult for me since I've always loved torch on the SN-95's. Even still, I hope I made the right decision. But I think I have. Call it a "gut-feeling".

Thanks for the kind words guys and gals! All of you have helped make this purchase extremely enjoyable for me!

Dan
