Ok, I have been trying to stay as far away from upper Jersey for as long as possible, as it is so congested. Anyway, I'm at the tail end of an intersection STOPED and there is a cop right across from me stopped, so this lady and her kid in a Audi hit the stang in the back (slight push) turning behind me out of an intersection. As I think she saw the cop, got nervous and tried to get out of the intersection before traffic started to move again. I feel the push and my heart drops. I immediately look back and all I can see is the lady pleading I AM SORRY. I get out the car steaming...... and I say back off the CAR. She backs up and there is a nasty gash across the rear bumper. So the cop sees me get out of the car and he says what happened and I said she hit me. So I pull over to let traffic get by. The cop comes over first and he said you've been christened. He said the same thing happened to him with his 2000. The lady comes over and says I didn't do all that and I said yeah you did it's a brand new car and the cop says yes you did. He pulls me aside and tells me he is about to write her a butt load of tickets for this.
So going to get an estmeant tomorrow. The damage is not that bad, it just looks like a very nasty scratch. I have been trying everything to keep this car perfect.

Sorry to hear about your car. I live in N. Jersey and it is crazy here.
Okay, I don't know if this helps at all, but ... I worked in car rental for 12 years. If someone is the claiment in an accident, they are entitled to "an equal car of equal value." Insurance companies deny it at first, but it is true.
A guy bought a refrigerated truck and he was involved in an accident. The insurance company offered him 20 bucks a day to rent a car. The guy went to court and the decision was "equal car of equal value."
I rented a Rolls Royce to a man in Beverly Hills. The car was $500 a day + mileage. His rental bill was more than his repair bill and the insurance company paid for everything.
In NJ, my mother had a Jag. She was hit by someone and the insurance company wanted to give $30 a day. She's an antiques dealer and since I couldn't find a Jag for her here (and she needed a SUV for a show) I got the insurance company to pay for SUV -- I said the seats fold down in the Jag which allows her to haul stuff. They paid for the SUV for 3 weeks.
While the repair time for your vehicle probably won't be very long (fortunately) remember the "equal car of equal value" line. Whenever someone else is clearly at fault, make sure the police report indicates that and get them cited whenever possible -- I know it seems mean, but in NJ anytime you file a claim with your insurance company, your rates go up. If the other insurance company pays for your repairs, your rates remain the same.
In 12 years, everytime I've gone for the equal car thing with an insurance company, they've denied it at first, but every single time they agreed to pay the bill.
Good luck on the repair.

Thanks everyone. I went to get an estemeant today and the guy was like don't even call your insurance company. He said to bring the police report to him and we would call the ladies insurance company and I would not be paying for any of this, not even my deductable. He said he could gaurantee the repair for life, but if I wanted a new bumper I could do that as well. I said I want the bumper. He said ok then it looks like it is going to be around $945.00 with labor and installation. Will be back next week.
What do you all think of him telling me not to call my insurance company? I haven't, since New Jersey is a no fault state. This guy who has repaired my dads mustang once and I believe he knows what he is doing.
