What has been the time from VIN assignment to build. I was told today from Ford Motor Company that mine was next up to be VINed. Ordered 9/25 and was told would be Vined next.

No clue yet. Many of us have had VIN's for months, so I'm not sure what it will be like from here on out.

I've had a vin now for about 2 to 4 weeks (can't remember exact date I received it) and just got my build date so... Could be real soon.

I view everything that happened up until job 1 as meaningless now. Actually the first 4 weeks of job 1 was ramping up/debugging and just like the orders were held until job 1 (all that time really can't count) once the first 25K are built then the times should be more normal or routine and that is new info. Anyone saying I ordered on July 1 really has no further advantage to someone who ordered July 30. Since they weren't building yet.

My dealer is quoting six weeks from order to delivery...any truth to that?

Truth can be very elusive, especially as it relates to a new car model. Just make sure you have alternate transporation, and keep it running until you get the phone call that your new car arrived. Good luck ! B)

I ordered on 9/23 and have received my VIN and a build date of 10/25. My dealer expects it to be delivered around the beginning of Novemeber. That should be right around 6-7 weeks. I was originally quoted 8-10 weeks, but it now seems that 6-8 weeks may be possible.

As the flow starts 6-8 sounds reasonable.

It just seems to me that there is no real rhyme or reason as to the elapsed time of these events. I mean we have one forum member who ordered as soon as the order bank opened and has still not received a VIN or a build date? Yet KenP ordered on 9/23 and got a VIN and build date already. My order went in on 9/20 and I've got neither.

I don't think anyone has a straight answer as to why this is... at least I haven't heard one yet

I ordered 9/16. Got a vin and a "submitted to plant" response code. I know this to be fact because my dad is the Fleet Manager for the Ford Dealer I'm getting it from.
Updates are on fridays. We expect the car to arrive no sooner than Mid December. Possibly mid January. But that is only an educated guess.

My bet is that any dealler who does not have a "been delivered" status code would be purely speculating when your car will arrive. Some deallers play games and won't tell you vin #'s unless you have pre=arranged financing.

If you don't have a vin# then your order is not "in". Your dealer may have put your order specs into his order bank, but until Ford pulls it for production and issues a vin, your order is just air. I have seen you post about this with frustration, and I would think that your dealer needs to give you an exact date he believes your car will be pulled. There is an almost exact rhyme and reason to these events. You are just not being given the reason.

I ordered on a Thursday. My salesman told me that they were being polled that night. I don't know how many they are allowed on their first allotment for stock, but I believe I was the first order for them. So I either made their first allotment or got very lucky. Now since we are hearing tons of different stories around here there may be a hold placed on all Sonic Blue GT's with standard wheels due to a shortage in air valve caps for the tires.

I'm not counting on anything to be the actual truth until I am driving away in my new Mustang.

Don't know if this matters, but this is whats off the top of the Vehicle Order Confirmation: Order No: 0001, Priority: 10, Order Type: 2, Price Level 515

VIN 1ZVFT82H259112227

is ford accepting orders for cars that have delays on them? Such as the V6 manual. If not, any idea on when they will?

My order was put in 09/21 but with a priority of 99. My dealer later changed the priority to 15. Since the updates are on Friday, i will check with him tomorrow and most likely I will have my VIN.
Can't Wait!!!!

Dude, I don't know. I ordered mine on 9/22 & was told today that it had been updated to clean, unscheduled. And mine is supossed to be expodited & moved ahead because it's an order to replace my 2003 that is a lemon. So, hopefuly, for me & for you, & for everyone else who has ordered, it won't be long. I know this post doesn't help. But I just noticed that we ordered the same week & still don't have vin's. Anywhoo.

Cheers mates.

ARGH!!!!!!!!

I also ordered on 9/23, I have a DORA, but NOTHING else! Is it possible that a VA dealer is getting VINs long before a Cali dealer???? My priority is 12.

I am about ready to drive to whatever dealership has a stang and buying it now!

BTW, we are repeat Ford customers with pristine Ford credit, and will be using Ford Motor Credit for financing for this one as well...
