Less than 3000 miles and I will need to call the dealer Monday as the convertible top on my 2005 GT convertible will barely close. It sounds terrible! This came on all of a sudden this weekend.

Anyone else have this problem? What ended up being the issue? How long did it take to fix? Yuck!

I appreciate any responses for this problem.

My problem is it stops just short of closing fully. Then I let go of the button then push it again and it closes fully. Seems like it runs out of juice when it gets close to closing. Thought it was normal.

mine operates the same way. One little push when it quits and it settles in perfect.

Mine did that the first couple days I had it. Had to let off the button and repush it threee times before the top eventually went all the way up. It eventually worked itself out on its own.

Not the problem I am having. When I try to close the top it barely makes it closed. It takes about a minute and the motor is straining to even close it. It has a major problem and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am not talking about where it closes perfectly except for the last two inches or so.

Thanks.

Thats kinda sketchy. I would be really pissed if my brand new car did that.

Exactly what I do. Now why wouldn't Ford have them close all the way without having to repress the button?

It sounds like there is something wrong with the motor. Mine takes about 14 seconds to close. Take it to the dealer. Let us know what the outcome was for future info.

I had trouble putting my top up one day.

Then I remembered taking the boot off might help.

I can share this story knowing that no one here at TMS would even think of giving me grief for it!

I took it to the dealer and they figured out the hydraulic tank behind the rear seat did not have the plug on it! It had been left off at the factory probably after filling the reservoir.

They cleaned up the mess filled, the tank and it now works as good as new. Just in case someone else experiences similar problems, check back there first.

Thanks.

Thanks for the update. As a WB GT Vert owner myself, I was concerned about problems with the top. That is something to keep in mind.

Interesting...it's a hydraulic motor? I thought so since I saw tubes and and a tank in my back trunk.
