I was coming home tonight going down I-275 (Detroit fans will know where it is) at Ford road. Hit the on ramp and of course powered through the gears, once I merged on the freeway I noticed a unique set of headlights in my rear view trying to catch up......

Low and behold a black GT convertible pulled up next to me. Of course it had a manufacturers plate on it but he gave me a nod and the fun began.

He started to pull away and traffic was light so I down-shifted and dropped the hammer, he must have seen me coming up fast he took off also. We were side by side going down I-275 and hit about 110 mph.

We both backed down to 80 mph and he took the next exit. The vert was dirty and it was dark out so I didn't get a real good look at it (although I just took pics at the Detroit Auto Show so I've seen it in person).

That was a Ford employee that took it home for the weekend. Ford was closed on Monday.

The SVT Cobra is NOT at the Detroit Auto show.

I work for Ford also. I was just pointing out that I spotted one and we had a little fun flying down the highway.

110 MPH on Detroit's roads? Man you are a walking advertisement for the 05s ablilty to absorb punishment! How'd you avoid all the potholes at that speed? Headed back to Warren this week to do some Army stuff, I'll be sure to keep my rental POS out of the fast lane!

I've been in the Detroit area my whole life, I guess that i'm just used to to the bad roads. I have quite a good eye for avoiding missing pieces of highway!!!

Have had a few scares though.

I'm not sure that I would know what to do with myself if I found a absolutely smooth piece of road to have some fun on.

I think there's a mile or two of smooth road (well, as smooth as it gets around here) out by the airport on I-94 (well, they just re-did the road recently).

Hurry though... the potholes will show up soon - they are using the special "Big 3" cement mixture again... can't have those new cars lasting too long around here!
