Vert SE's?

What are the odds we will have a convertible option on the Special Editions? I love the mustang, but a convertible fits my style a lot more than a coupe/hard top. Any ideas?

well, the chances of having an SE vert is very little. mustang hasnt really done done that. if this stang is to have an SE vert it will come from maybe a California Special, but no one is sure if they will produce it

If there is going to be a Mach one with a shaker as a coupe, I'd like there to be a convertible version of it as well. Kind of the opposite of what happened in the 03', 04' model where the Mach one could only be had as a coupe. I want a yellow convertible Mach 1 with a shaker, black hood, with black vinyl stripes. That's what I want and if I can't have that, then I'll just try for a windveil blue GT convertible. I wish windviel blue could be had with the red interior package! I really wish it could! I wonder if it could be custom ordered that way? A windveil blue Mustang GT covnertible with a red interior would be my first choice. Saddly, the marketing executives at Ford think that's an ugly color combination. Well, I sure don't think so. I think it's very patriotic and American looking. I also think it would be truely awsome.

Dount it. Most SE are more performance oriented and the vert crowd is more about cruising. Doesn't mean you can't take the parts from the SE's and put them on a vert though.....

I thought that Brad had written in his Mustang Lauch Celebration thread that there was not going to be a Mach I version because the lead designer said "they had already done that."
And I think that he had also said that a California Special was "on the list."

But I'm not sure if anything had changed since this posting.....

Awesome Brad, nice job.
It sounds like we might see a California Special in 06MY since Thai-Tang said its on the list. Kind of an odd coincidence that KaptinGT mentioned in and Thai-Tang said it was on the list. Plus, they are concentrating on getting the Cobra out so I'm not sure we'll see a power increase till 07MY.
Anyways, the trip looked like a lot of fun. Thai-Tang is a great guy isn't he?

It would be nice if Ford built a convertible S/E... I am sure there are enthusiats chlamoring for one.
I don't think they should use the mach1/boss name, as those were reserved for pure performance car.
A good name does not come to mind, but they should definitely package high-performance bits from a hardtop S/E and market it under a different name.

I am not a big Cobra fan anymore because of the supercharger. I like pure power from a V8 without any help from a supercharger or a turbocharger. I think the cobra was ruined when they added a supercharger. Mustang and Camaro's are suppose to be about pure power, adding a supercharger made it kinda of a cheap way out. They should have found another way to get the horsepower. I am sure their were pricing issues if they went another way, there is always some sort of excuse.

The California Special will not be made. It wouldn't sell. Period. Quote me on it.

And every day it gets closer to 2005, I'm more right.

And if that California Special information is wrong, then brad needs to remove the colors for 06, since they came from the same person. If the Cali Special (Or any SE) isn't shown at the Detroit Auto Show, we won't be getting one for a while. (Read Mid 06)

With the kind of torque that is rumored in a 500 horse Cobra version, I doubt they are going to chop the roof and compund any twisty problems....
Just a guess on my part though.

there wasn't a vert mach1 in 03' & 04' because the machs from 69-78 were all coupe's-no verts

No sir you cannot get traction control on the 05 Mustang, because we didn't have traction control back in 65...
