Vert Owners, Windows Up or Down?
Darth, It sounds like it is time to drive south and get that top down. Have you put the top down yet? Only in the garage?
I am going to have to check out putting the windows up and try to avoid looking like a dork. My car should be ready sometime in the end of January. Just in time for the rain.

It's like getting a mega-sunroof. I've been on long highway drives where it's gotten cool nearer the end of the drive and I don't want to stop and put the top up. Put up the windows, put on the heat, still get fresh air and nice view, plus you're comfortable.
See it a lot with people with A/C during the day as well. There is definitely a difference.

Hmmm. Another thread created that provokes a debate based on personal tastes. Gotta love it. Ok, so here is my opinion. When the top is down, I usually have the windows down. But, on extremely windy days (which are not unusual around this part of Texas) when doing 70 on the freeway, I will put the windows up to cut down on the turbulance in the car. You still have the open sky above you, as well as the HOT Texas sun burning your neck! On the other hand, on cooler days I may put the windows up and the heater on, but again, only on the freeway. My .02 cents.

I mostly do the w/up t/down on the highway. There are alot of days where it is warm enough cruising around town to have the top down but at highway speeds the extra wind makes it quite cool. I agree it looks much better with the w/down so they are up only if necessary.
It looks funny with the top down and windows up ---having said that, I've it - at night on the open road, going fast with the heater on - even felt cold. I had a '94 Camaro vert at the time. Wouild never drive in town with the top down and windows up...that's like white socks with a tux.
If it's cold enough to need the windows up, it's cold enough to raise the top....
I think it just looks silly with the top down and windows up when it's too cold, It doesn't help much and seems to advertise a possible lack of common sense

You'd be better off buying a coupe and installing a sunroof.

Whoever said Mustang owners have any common sense?

I have always thought that this question should be asked of every potential convertible buyer. If they intend and driving it with the top down and the windows up, they they fail the test and are not allowed to buy a convertible until they demonstrate that they know how to properly handle one. Unfortunately in Michigan too many people have failed the test and been allowed to own them anyway :nono:

Waiting for my vert and wondering what are the different effects of driving with the top down and the windows up or down. What is your preference? Which way works best for cold air driving?

If you ever leave the rear 1/4 windows up with top down.....it looks like ears: dorky! LOL <<<<that's my pet peve.
But in day to day driving, even in SoCal, the weather temp can change a lot. I've driven from Aneheim (warm) to Oceanside (cool and overcast) where I have put up the front windows up. But I try not to!
What's even worse is driving top down and only the rear windows up! Wow, that looks terrible.
As for me, if the top's down, so are the windows.
And if it's not raining, the windows are usually down even if the top's up. Better to hear the awesome sounds coming from the exhaust. Long live the American V8!

Top down - Windows down , when it was cool in late fall ...then leave the top up - windows down.........I'm still amazed how quiet & solid this car is for a vert. Mines hibernating in the garage now... how many more days til spring here in the northeast??
