Varying clutch pedal resistance

I have been noticing this for a while, but sometimes my clutch is easy to push in and shifting with it is extremely smooth, and then I get it the car for another trip an hour later, and the clutch has a much higher resistance which makes sifting a little more jerky. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this? It seems completely random. BTW, I test drove another 2006 GT and I almost pushed the clutch pedal through the floor becuase it was so easy to push in compared to mine.
