You may not agree with the guy but I love how half this 'discussion' suddenly morphed into a political flag waving contest - WTF???

All I want to know is what happened to the punks and what their PARENTS said if anything about the behaviour of their 'little angels'.......

This is definintely the reaction of someone who had already made their mind up to dump the car. I guess it just wasn't the right single vehicle and I understand that. I couldn't use the Mustang for a daily without something else. Not to mention that parking lots and idiots in general definitely just don't care about cars the way we do. People fling doors, shopping carts etc etc.

Good luck with the Escape. Not sure if you drove an '08, I just bought one and it's light years nicer than the '01-'07 model. I had an '01.

I actually bought an '06 Escape..... Everything on it except the kitchen sink. I haven't even seen an '08 other than pics, but the one I got is pretty sweet. It's a relatively new color too...."Blazing Copper Metallic' and this is a factory two-tone paint with the other color being 'Gray' on what usually is just a flat plastic trim. Charcoal and gray interior with gray leather. Audiophile 6-disc changer which seems to beat the pants off the shaker and all it's troubles. Just got the official insurance rates too: I went from $948 a year on the 'Stang to $564 on the Escape.

No I think the Bush track record speaks for itself nuff said. Gotta love big mouthed no-it-all republicans. Your not all like that, but you seem to be. For the record though I do think they were rigged. Not a conspiracy theorist, but there was definately something fishy going on. I live in florida, and the vote here was definately not for Mr. Bush. As others have said this is not your soapbox for your political views. Just responding to yours and now I am done. If we ever get through the current web of lies I think history will show how corrupt this administration has been. BTW I voted for a republican. Needless to say I wont say any more as it is not the place and out of respect for the threads author.

I actually sent an e-mail to the investigating officer asking for his input on what he would do in the same situation. His take was that it's an economically strapped family, but the Mother knew right from wrong and the kids didn't seem at all like wild brats. What I'm trying to say is that they seemed like a good family that doesn't have the economical skills to have a better life at this time. They need to learn a lesson, and the lesson would not be that because of their financial hardship, they can get away with this. I'm not saying hit them where it hurts (pocketbook), but maybe community service, or a small fee $120 (what my ded. would have been), or having them work it off at our condo complex or wash my car once a week on a schedule. I have to work today, but I just had walked over to the apartments where they live and left a note on the door for them to call me so we can discuss it..... That's where it's at at this point.

I'd have kept the car. They have to have/should have insurance.

How F'n retarded is it to bring politics into this. Oh yeah, it was Bush's fault, no it was Clinton's, no wait, let's blame Osama. Morons.

It's called personal responsibility. The kids should be held accountable for their actions, and the parents should take responsibility for raising their kids.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the car. I would've pressed legally if the parents didn't voulenteer to fix the car. I'm even more sorry to hear this talk about you leaving the forum. Best of luck with the Escape... although, every time I see that vehicle I think of the Pina Colada song.

Thanks for keeping us in line Dave. I tend to get a little emotional when people hit certain buttons.

Is the next step Moderator Dave?

So, you then proceed to give us your political views?

Hey Kevin, I don't think you need to leave the boards just because you don't have a Stang anymore. We'll be here to try and lure you back into our world.

When I had my accident with the deer, I thought my love affair with my Mustang was over...but actually it got much stronger. I know there's a difference between an accident and complete vandalism like yours, however I would have kept the Mustang but obviously this went well beyond getting rid of the Mustang because of vandalism. I'm glad you're happy in your new ride. You handled the situation better than what I would have done because honestly I don't know what I would have did.

I do know I would made that financially strapped family pay for their children's actions...I don't care if they don't have enough money to go to corner store to buy a roll of tee-pee paper wipe their own butts. I came up poor (living with a mother as child who was a waitress trying to support two kids) and I know life isn't all roses and stuff but she did instill in my brother and I right from wrong. There's no excuse for those kids actions, in some way they should pay.

I have no sympathy for that family or their kids. Being poor is not an excuse, it's a copout and a lame one at that. Well hopefully you can get this resolved on your end. Hopefully it'll be a lesson that both of these deliquents will carry with them as they enter adulthood that will help them become productive members of society and not just another number in an overcrowded prison system somewhere.

I'll update when I get ahold of the Mother of the 2 kids. I walked over there today before I went to work and knocked on the door, but nobody answered. I left a note on the door for her to call me, but there was no message when I got home and my other half said there were no calls. I will try their apartment again tomorrow morning. Hopefully they didn't pack up and leave.....

I have a feeling man that they are going to try to ignore you and hope you go away. People with those type of kids tend to do that type of thing. They much rather wait for the problem to go away on its own rather than take disciplinary action against their own kids...you just got to stay diligent in your quest...these kids shouldn't get a break for what they did to your car. I would say that if you can, try to find out when the mother leaves the house for work (if she works) and just catch her off guard as she walks out the door or when she comes home. Like I said I bet someone is home...just not wanting to answer the door. I know it sounds like I'm being overly harsh but I've been in a similar situation as yours, although it didn't involve vandalism.

In any case, keep us updated...I hope it works out for you in your favor.

Thanks James..... I have e-mailed the officer to let him know that if they don't respond to me then I would like to press charges against them for the rock throwing incident and tag them with community service. My guess is that she doesn't work if she's on welfare and food stamps. I will however try again to catch her, and the same drill if I don't (not on the door). I am leaving for Vegas Tuesday afternoon, and if she has avoided me up to that point without response, then I will handle it in a differnet manner when I return. They are already lucky that I'm such a nice guy.
