Kevin, I am sorry to see you leave the Mustang behind like this. You have been a loyal and excellent contributor to the forum for a long time now. I know you enjoyed the car as much as any of us enjoy ours, and it's almost hard to believe that a couple of pre-teen boys took that enjoyment away from you.

I can't say what I would have done in the same situation, as I am equally **** about the condition of my '05. I was always really careful with all of my nice cars, but I'm getting worse as I get older, and now I'm at the point where I can't even park the car like normal people, but instead have to seek out the end spots in parking lots, or only park in extra-large slots. Mine is almost 2-1/2 years old now, and still not a single parking lot ding - the only blemishes really are a couple of really minor tiny marks on the front bumper from highway pebbles I guess.

Anyway, like I said, I can't say exactly what I would have done in your situation, because I agree with you that the car would simply not be the same if it was repainted, no matter how good it came out. I think I would probably trade it in like you - but in my case, I could not switch from a muscle car to an SUV - I would have to get an equally exciting relatively low-dollar performance car, if one other than a Mustang exists, or just get another new Mustang.

You'll be missed in this forum - hopefully, you'll still check in and contribute with your experience, even though you are no longer the proud Mustang owner that you once were!

Their parents should be hung from a tree and beaten with an aluminum baseball bat (just because I like the sound) like a Pinata. This is all the result of too many "time outs" and not enough hand on the butt discipline.

Sorry to here this drove you over the edge...

Last week I had a hamburger ran down the side of my Stang while I was at a friends house. God help the poor fool, if I ever catch them/anyone doing this.
(And me kicking their *** should be perfectly legal for what they did to my car.)
It all cleaned up at the wash, but the irritation still lingers.

Sorry to hear you traded the Stang in.

On the bright side, you shouldn't have ricers constantly harassing you in your Escape.
It is something I had been contemplating, and this just made me pull the trigger. We have alot of friends that we do things with, and alot of time out of town, so it will be nice that we can take our car instead of always expecting the others to do the driving so we can all go together. Same dilemma when I go golfing out of town. The Escape covers more avenues, and if I get door dinged or other damage i will just get it fixed instead of having sick feeling when I have repaired areas on the 'Stang. Miss her I will, but it's all good.....

I think you should sell your condo as well as your 'Stang. That way you could start fresh!

Just kidding!

Good luck with your new ride. I also think you must have contemplated selling the car prior to this incident, and that this was merely "the feather that broke the camel's back" and the catalyst.

Ah, well...

Oh, and PS: The Great Hero George W. Bush has run circles around the Democrats since he trounced Ann Richards for the governorship of Texas. Therefore, I wonder who the true idiots (let me spell it out for you government-educated drones here: D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-S) really are!!!

Gotta love how he trounced everybody since he had to have the election fixed twice. (Catherine Harris) Needless to say he's an idiot. I respect some republicans, obviously not ones that say such intelligent things, but president Bush, no can do.

So pay the Escape off early, keep it as a driver, and buy another Mustang I left and came back, maybe you'll rejoin us again some day.

Not that I would have "loved it" if someone did this to my car, but the at least the second thought to run through my head(after murderous rage, of course) would be NEW HOOD! Saleen, or 3D Carbon, or DCF, or....

Sorry to hear about your luck.

The problem is not so much that the kids doing this caused him to want to trade in, but the stress of having something nice that kinda stands out in the crowd makes it a target for all kinds of vandalism. It's stressful to have to always worry where you park ect. I understand my car is going to get chips, scrapes, scratches and general wear and tear thats normal. But vandalism is BS. I had an old pick up parked in the exact same spot for years, yea it got broken into a few times but thats because it didn't have an alarm. Otherwise it never got messed with. I parked my Mustang in the same spot and had food thrown on it, bottles put under the tires, eggs tossed near it (missed thankfully) and some jack hole put a cup of ice cream upside down on it. Once a week atleast I'd go out to fins something left on my car or evidence that someone had been attempting to mess with it.

It's frustrating that you cannot have anything nice but thats the way it is. I chose to move rather than get rid of the car, I still worry about parking lots or visiting buddies in not so great neighborhoods and it sucks, wish I still had my old truck for those situations.

I don't know why everyones griefing this guy. I don't blame him at all.

Sorry to hear about the Stang. I gotta say, if I saw someone doing that to my car, I'm not sure what I would do. I won't blame you for not getting another Stang, but hopefully you'll come back to the dark side one day.

Good luck with the Escape, at least you stayed Ford.

Well from what the man was saying about carrying more than two people and needing trunk space bigger than two golf bags or something to that effect, he's been thinking about this for a while.
I don't have a garage and my ride is emaculate 90 percent of the time. However, we do live in an imperfect world and that's why we have this thing called insurance. That's all the piece of mind that we need.
At least you can say that you had one of these beauties. Do your thing man. At least you kept it real and you kept it Ford.

Sounds like you had already made up your mind to do this before the incident happened and this just pushed you over the edge.

If it was me I would have been shoping for a new aftermarket hood the next day and the kid's parents would have paid the bill.

I would have started civil and criminal charges and SOLD the CONDO!!!
Then I would look into a new style hood.

Vandals are everywhere but to sell your ride for the sake of these idiots is not right. I would not have worried about calling the police. A little old fashion justice would have ended vandalism in the area....sort of an old fashion community policing concept.
