Vandalism of my 'Stang leads to disgust & then parting ways (goodbye fellow 'stangers

I had my car parked at home 2 nights ago when I get a call from one of my condo residents informing that there is someone throwing large rocks over the 8 foot tall fence in our back parking area. Well, when I went downstairs I found about 30 rocks about half the size of a baseball all over the parking area around my car. And then I see where a couple of them were direct hits on my front hood (nice dents). I took off on a dead run around the block and caught the culprits ( 2 younger boys 13 and 9) andf then we went for a walk back to my place while I called the Police. I was just sick....... so today I got rid of my 'Stang on a trade-in, as I did not want the car anymore when I was looking at a repair job. Actually, it has been a pain sometimes when I want to haul anything more than 2 people, golf clubs, etc.....and my insurance quote on my new vehicle is $380 a year cheaper. I bought a 2006 Ford Escape fully loaded & gave $900 and my Mustang. My total insurance is now $580 year full coverage and a lot better gas mileage, and I can do more things with the SUV than I did with the 'Stang. I will miss her, and I wouldn't have traded her in at all if not for the little bastards in the back alley.......this just happened to be the one that pushed me the wrong way.

so you let some little kids boss you around? man, you cant give up just like that. what makes you think people might not throw rocks at your escape? see theres always a way around something. but good luck with your new car.

Congratulations, by getting rid of your car you've let them win.

Otherwise, enjoy your escape (pun intended).

The Escape is a plain jane vehicle in my mind and therefore if I have to fix it and have some bondo or whatever it's okay......but the 'Stang is different to me, and something I worked so hard at protecting. If I ever have a nice and special ride again, it will be a weekend warrior that only comes out once in awhile, and not a daily driver. I'm happy with my decision, and I had SUV's for about 10-12 years before the 'Stang, so it is my niche....

At least you caught the culprits! Not that it will help you get your stang fixed, because chances are mommy and daddy don't have any money anyway. Blood from a stone my friend...

Sorry you felt you had to do that Kevin. You'll miss that car, but you must have been contemplating the move anyway or it wouldn't have crossed your mind. The only thing I'll come down on you for is making the decision in the heat of the moment. You should never do that. Good Luck though from a fellow northwesterner. hope you get another one someday. On the bright side, you shouldn't have ricers constantly harassing you in your Escape.

Glad it didn't happen to me, I'd have to explain to the cops why there were dead 9 and 13 year old kids in the street with bullet holes in them

I hope you don't sell your Escape when a bird craps on the windshield

Kevin sorry to hear about your news and hopefully those little POS will be dealt with accordingly. A good old fashioned a*s kicking would do them alot of good. No need to go away though. You should still stop in and say hi and see what is going on.

Sorry about your loss Kevin. I hope you enjoy your new Escape. I know what you went through. I too am **** about the "virgin" state of my Mustang. I almost went and traded it off on a new Lincoln MKZ after I got the rock ding in my windshield header a few weeks ago. But, I calmed down and realized it could be easily repaired without destroying the "virgin" nature of the car.

Wow..you guys are pretty harsh. I feel for the guy..I do...but his decision to buy a new car is not something to come down on him for.

I bought this car..I love this car...but if some idiot (and there are a lot of them here in Atlanta...you can tell by the "W" stickers ) hit me and totaled my ride..would I replace it with another?....maybe...maybe not...I would have to see what is on the market at that time.

Sorry for your loss...these cars are things of beauty...but they are just cars. Enjoy your new vehicle!

First of all,it is near impossible to keep a car pristeen w/out a garage. I think you made a wise decision by getting a car that you really don't care that much about if it gets dinged up or whatever. I would get a brand new stang though when you get a garage. As far as the punks go,there should be an eye for an eye law against scumbags that vanadalize.Lets see how they like a few boulders to the melon

Actually, I couldn't keep mine pristeen even with a garage...I got a ding in mine on the way home from the dealership.

If this had happened to me (kids throwing rocks) I would be irate but there is no way I would trade in my GT as a result.

Kevin,
Sorry to hear about what happened to your GT. I can't understand why there are people who have no respect for other people's property, whether it be a car or anything else they damage just for the heck of it. No ryhme or reason for doing it.
Remember when all of us were getting our '05's and how conservative I was when I chose the Windveil Blue. Well, a couple months ago I decided to go more bold, and bought an '07 Torch Red. I know you will eventually get back into another one. The Legend will live forever.
