Which type of Mustang owner are you?
I've had a '66 coupe, a '66 vert, and a '71 fastback before my 05GT. Most of my favorite cars are those that Carroll Shelby has developed, but I'm actually not that crazy about Fords in general. I had a Taurus once...POS. I am deeply unimpressed with GM products. Will never have another one. I will probably always have a Honda family car, but now that I've got another Mustang, the only thing that will talk me out of it will be another Mustang.
"Always owned Chevy's"? Nah...only two. But they were both Corvettes.
But the original Mustang has always been one of my favorite cars, and the 05+ Mustang brought a lot of that feeling to me.
I needed a back seat and it was the perfect opportunity.

My 05 GT is my third Mustang GT
1. My first Mustang was a Burgundy 1983 GT, that my father
ordered and purchased for me. I kept that car for 4 years.
2. My second Mustang was a Black 1987 GT, that my Father
and I ordered together. it was my first car that I was
paying for myself. I only kept that car 11 months, see the
car came in two weeks after my father passed away. I just
couldn't keep it.
After that I was out of the Mustang ownership, until I got
the bug again, when I first layed eyes on the 05 Mustang
concept car, and the rest is history.

I thought of a Stang back in the day before the S197, but I could never picture myself in one. When the S197 came out patterned after some of my fav stangs, had to get one! and very glad I did.....now I just need to wax it so I can drive it. LOL
Brought my first Mustang when I was 20. Couldn't afford the insurance for the, at the time, new '94. So, brought a white '66 coupe with 62K original miles. It was sitting in the 2nd owner's garage for 8 years. Car didn't run so I spend about 3 months working on it. Then the day finally came when she finally fired up. The garage was full of white smoke but she was running!
Always had a healthy respect/admiration for muscle cars in the past, especially Mustangs. Never could see myself owning one before, drove German imports before. When I saw the '05 I was sold.

1st Mustang
This is my 1st Mustang.
I'm from the Netherlands. Ford don't sell Mustangs over there, neither in the rest of Europe. You have to import them.
I read articles about it in car magazines and saw the Mustang on tv / in movies. I've always liked the '60 style of the Mustang but did not much care about the '80 - '90 style of the Mustang.
In '01 I came over to the US and when Ford in '04 came out with the current model I immediately fall in love with the car. Since a month I'm a proud owner of a Mustang and I'm planning to take it back to the Netherlands at the end of the year to show of a through American Muscle car.

I'm sort of a hybrid. My old man bought nothing but Fords every two or three years from 1956-1986. My Mom had a 65 Mustang coupe, and a number of my buddies had Mustangs (mid-60s vintages) when I was a young whippersnapper. I've owned 5 Fords (not Mustangs) over the years, but I drove Mopars (particularly a 1968 Roadrunner) when I was younger, and I drive two "enemy" vehicles (an 04 Pilot and a 06Tacoma) now too (although still drive an 84 Ranger).
I had always wanted a 68 DHG model, but "settled" for a blue 68 "Beep Beep" instead! The 05 Mustang was the realization of a 38-year-old dream, and I have not been disappointed!

See the signature for the Mustangs. In the year before the first Mustang (when I was 16) I drove my parents' car ('66 Fairlane 500 convertible, 289/auto) and for a little while, a '65 Galaxie (352/auto). The summer before the first Mustang I had a '68 Falcon (200cid I-6, 3 on the tree that a previous owner had converted to a floor shift). I was rear-ended by - of all things - a '73 Mach 1 (3 years old at the time). It really messed up the Falcon, so it went to the salvage yard, and I got the '69 Mustang.
So even before the Mustangs, it was all still Ford Blue!

Bleeding Ford Blue here! First car a '60 Falcon, followed by '65 Fastback, '63 Chevy station wagon (hand-me-down/tow vehicle), '74 F100, '70 Fastback, '78 Ranchero GT, '70 Mach1 428SCJ, '86 Tempo Sport, '90 F150, '98 SVT Cobra, '93 LX 5.0, '02 Lightning, '05 Mustang GT. Still own the last four vehicles.
My first car was a Maverick when I was 18 … then Mustangs ever since. And unless Ford really screws up, it will be Mustangs until I die. It’s my favorite car, my favorite plane, and my favorite horse.

2nd Mustang for me.
My first was a 90 5.0 5spd notch in black with bolt ons had that for 10 years.
Didn't like anything past the 93's except for the Mach 1 and Terminators, then wehn the 05 came out I said I gotta have one. Picked up an 06 last summer.
I will never get rid of this one. I would like another notchback one day and of course a 67-78 fastback with a 428 is on the must have list.

I don't think I fit any of the profiles but I've owned all makes, as long as they're DOMESTIC. I've owned Fords, Chevys and Mopar. The most notable of each make:
1970 Boss 302
1970 Challenger R/T Convertible
1987 "20th Anniversary Commemorative Edition" Z28 Convertible
Today, I own two Fords and two Chevys:
2005 Mustang (Wife's car)
2005 Mustang GT (My daily driver)
1987 IROC-Z (Twin Turbo)
Aforementioned Z28 convertible (Driven about 50 miles per year)
What's amazing is how similar the S197 is to the thirdgen Camaro....

When I was in my early twenties, I wanted a fox-body real bad (dating myself)...but I could never afford one!!
After that, my interest in Stang pretty much subsided til I saw the 05s!
Now I'm hooked again!

I got interested in Mustangs at a late age - 1987! The 2005 is my fourth Mustang; a 1965 coupe, a 1969 fastback and I'm currently restoring a 1967 coupe. In 1995, I sold the '65 to finance my youngest son's college education - I had just purchased the '69. Then, in late 2004, I sold the '69 to finance the '05 because it was to be my retirement present to myself and the '67 was already under construction. Plus, there was simply no room for three Mustangs! I love driving and modding the '05 but, sentimentally speaking, the '69 was my favorite.
