Tuning on the 3V
They way around warranty work is to know someone at the dealership. Heck man my friend had a 98 cobra with a s trim the motor blew and the dealershiper replaced the motor. My 00 gt I had off road hpipe, chip, gear, throttle body, mass air meter, ect and they still warrantied the car. Most places want you to keep buying cars from them and they will almost warranty whatever because it doesnt go against the dealership for replaced items they just write it up as warranty work and ford pays them for it. Also never let them tell you your warranty is void because you put something on your car. It doesnt they have to prove that the part you put on there caused the failure. If they are gaining 30-35 rwhp these cars are gonna be beasts when people do other small things to them and really open the cars potential up.
Slow down here guys, the 30 - 35 HP they are talking about was on a 5.4L 3V truck engine that is only rated @ 300 HP, same as the 4.6L in the Mustang.
I don't think that it will be quite as easy to get 35 HP out of the 4.6. But a little birdy told me several months ago that the HP and torque on the 4.6L 3V was limited by the computer program and not the mechanical parts of the engine. So it should be possible and relatively easy to get some extra HP out of the 4.6 3V.
And to answer someone else's question yes the VVT is controlled by the computer. To make the whole engine control system really work right it requires ETC too which is why the '05 Stang has it.

You guys should check out this website: http://www.hypertech-inc.com/programmer.html. I'm sure it'll take them a little while to release one for the 05, but the results they were able to get on the 03-04 Cobras were very impressive...+54hp/+43tq w/stock pulley. They also have one for the 01 GT...the results were +18hp/+19tq, but it was with an automatic...I'm sure a manual would see slightly better results. According to them their changes do not affect the standard warranty.
