Is it true?

Hey I went into a local ford dealer today with some friends to get some information before i actualy pull the trigger... first off im 20 years old so no one gives me the time of day. normaly you enter a lot and a saleman walks up to you trying to sell you anything they can, but we walked around for like 15 minutes with anyone so much as looking at us. then i go inside and just find the first guy i can and say "are yall taking x plan orders on 5 speed GT mustang" well not so blunt but you get the picture guy comes back pretty much says we can do x plan on an Auto but due to supply and demand we cant take a manual on xplan... and pretty much says no one else would in the area. they look like a good dealership, atleast for mustangs, got 2 cobras tons of saleens and sooooo many custom mustangs but i dont know what to do, he says he could order me a manual and give me a really great deal if i was interested, but i dont know what that really entails... anyways im going back sunday to see what really great deal means... but main question is, is he blowing smoke up my #SS, or anyone know a dealership that will up in washington around the everett marysville seattle region. Thanks guys

that is BS kind of, they are entitled to turn down Xplan to anyone and on anything that they would like, but I am sure you can find someone who will take it on a manual, I did. He is probably just loaded up on autos and is trying to unload what they have on you instead of what you want, ask to speak to the fleet manager and deal with him, also see about ordering one so you get what you want, but my best advice is to not give in, its your money so get what you want and what will make you happy or else you could wind up regretting giving in.

good luck

I agree. Also, I personally think anyone who doesn't treat you with respect just because you are 20 doesn't deserve your business anyway. I ordered my first new car (a Fox-body) when I was just 19 and was treated with respect by the fleet manager who took my order.

Considering where you live, for all they know you could be a nephew of Bill Gates...

Occasionally you just end up going to dealers when all the sales guys are either busy or BSing. I'm older than 20 yet I've been left to wander around lots for 15-20 minutes without help before.

The best is when the guy actually walks up to you, asks you what need help with. When you show him that you actually have knowledge of the car and not a clueless consumer, he just walks away and leaves you out in the lot. LOL

It sounds like you'll have to do what I'm going to do in the spring... order out of state to get x-plan and then have it delivered (or pick it up).

The only reason I'd rather order from a local dealer is because I'm worried if I order out of state and then I take my car for service to any other dealer it may not get as good a treatment as if I did buy at the same dealer I'm getting serviced. If the dealer didn't make money on you they probably won't care much for the maintenance on it.

That's my worry also... but I figure I could always lead them to believe that I had moved.. they can't hold that against me.

I was told that I would never find a dealership that would give me A-Plan on my 05 vert, but I did. Then when that first dealership emailed me asking if I had found a car yet. I said "Yes and I've already had the dealer add $3000 worth of extra's." They stopped emailing after that.

It is up to each dealership as to whether they will accept X-plan or not. I have heard MANY complaints from Ford salesmen about the poor allocation they get on manual tranny GTs. There's high demand and short supply. It is not surprising that a dealer would accept X-plan on autos but not manuals. As the others said, if you look around you might find someone to accept it on an in-stock manual, but your best bet is to order one. Most dealers will accept X-plan on an order (regardless of tranny) because a special order does not count against their allocation.

==but would also help if somone out there could give me a nice amount to work for, here is everything i want ==

Go to KBB.com and enter your car and all options. It will tell you the sticker price and invoice price. The X-plan price calc is somewhat complicated, but it will end up somewhere in the range of 100 below invoice to 100 over.

==GT Apperance(*maybe have a few questions maybe somone can answer)==

My 07 has it, what is your question? It consists of hood scoop, rolled exhaust tips and engine plenum cover.

==Does the non functional spoiler interfere with anything if later i wanted to add the Shaker hood scoop, will it make cutting the hood harder or impossible or need a new hood?==

Do you mean "scoop" rather than "spoiler"? If you mean the scoop, it may cause problems because the scoop is bolted on. When you remove the scoop you'll have some holes in the hood that probably will still show after installing a shaker. I'd recommend not ordering the GTAP if you're going with a shaker.

Good luck!

Just to add my experience from here in central Ohio, it took me three dealers to finally find someone who'd X-plan a GT 5-speed. The first dealer I dealt with initially told me "no problem" until I got closer to actually writing the order and then I started getting some runaround about wanting a 5-speed. The next dealer, actually my local dealer, told me that if I talked the right manager, at the right time of the month, with the planets in the correct alignment, they "might" do an X-plan order for a GT/5-speed. The dealer I finally went with told me they'd X-plan any Mustang on their lot except a GT/5-speed or one of their Roushes but they'd gladly order a GT/5-speed on the X-plan.

Moral of the story: shop around to find someone who wants your business and is willing to work with you. As Tres Wright said, dealers are tightly allocated on the GT/5-speed combo. But you should be able to find a dealer that will order a 5-speed. As it was explained to me, the X-plan order doesn't count against the dealer's allocation.
