Transmission Fluid Leak After SC Install

I noticed a small spot of tranny fluid on the garage floor so I took the car to the guys who did the SC install and sure enough I have a fluid leak. It is coming from one of the seals on the tranny. Is there any chance this will be covered under warranty or am I "up the creek without a paddle" so to speak?

The guy who did the install actually used to work at the dealership I am taking the car to Monday and he doesn't believe the SC or tune should make the tranny seals leak. I know the pressure in the tranny lines is bumped up some but it is 10% or less. Any opinions?

It could be a tough call here, how many miles on the car itself?

Are you 100% sure its a seal? These cars are known for burping out a little fluid from the vent tube... especially after some spirited driving. Mine used to do it all the time. Nothing to worry about. And you can always add a small catch can to contain what comes out the vent tube, so that it goes right back in the trans. I have one... you can see it between the battery and the rear blower manifold.

The stock trans on the V6 was never designed to handle a supercharger. You may get by but there are no guarantees. The TR-6060 was designed to handle the torque from a high performance engine, which is why they are used on the C6 Vette/Z06/ZR-1, GT500/GT500KR, Challenger SRT-8, and Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR.

Maybe I missed something in the original post. He mentioned line pressure, so I assumed it was an auto trans. And I don't see any reference to a V6, but even if it is, don't the V6's also use the same 5R55S that the GTs use?

Good catch, shift line pressure isn't found on the calibration for cars with manual transmissions. The French 5R55S is known to handle quite a bit of abuse, but again, Ford never intended it for high torque applications.

Agreed... it has it limits. But that seems to be in the low 10-sec or high 9-sec range... which is good enough for me!

Come to find out the transmission pump was leaking around the gasket. It has been fixed under warranty.

Nice! Did they say why it was leaking?
