I have a creak.

My car seems to be making a creak from the front left side when I go over bumps. Anybody have an idea?

I'm on BMR springs, stock shocks, combo LCA's, relocation brackets, and new panhard rod.

I'm scared

If you have lowering springs and stock shocks/struts, chances are you'll have to replace the strut mounts, that's what breaks with lowering springs. Plenty of threads about that.

I think the GT500 ones are supposed to be 30% stronger than stock, but it is plastic still. I have the Steeda heavy duty ones, and I couldn't be happier. All creaks: GONE!

Thanks Rony.

If a mod could move this to the 2005-2009 section, that would be great. I didn't even realize I was in the wrong forum.

When I go to lunch, I'll see if I can make the sound again just to make sure. Not to mention, the roads here in Columbus are really putting a strain on the suspension.

it will get to a point that it won't matter where you are driving, good or bad, if there's a little bump, your struts will sound like they are coming lose

How loud was the noise coming from your car?

Mine is kind of faint. It literally sounds like an old door slowly being opened.

Don't people consider the noise as a popping noise? I don't have a popping noise that I know of.

i recently had the "popping noise" and before i went and got some new strut mounts, i took the wheel off and tightened every single bolt that was removed when puttin on my springs (steeda ultralites). turns out, the "main strut center bolt" on top was about 1/4 turn looser than its brother on the other side of the car. i tightened that bolt and voila, popping gone.

just a tip, go over each bolt before you go and buy new strut mounts. it saved me some good cash that i can use on other mods

mine went between popping and creaking, depending on what I was riding on (smooth pavement with some imperfection = creaking, rough pavement/uneven paver streets = popping).

The strut mount will go eventually. I didn't have it right away, it took 3 weeks after installing my lowering springs before it showed up, faint. A week later I was embarrassed to drive my car anywhere (sounded like it was falling apart).

Hey Rony,

I just went a grabbed lunch, and I didn't hear the sound. I think I was a little paranoid. I think its actually my radar detector mount vibrating.

Regardless, this scared me enough to put the strut mounts on the list since they will go eventually.

Thanks for the help bud.

Don't get too paranoid, $100K+ cars get creaks and squeaks like any other car

Well, I have an update.

My car is definitely not creaking. It seems to be more of a rattle coming from the dash. If anybody knows what causes this, please post up. I'll continue to search the forums.

I'm going to give this a shot. I'll have my girlfriend see if she can help me out.
