Bumblebee was a VW Beetle yes. And he was going to be a Beetle in the movie. However, it was changed to a Camaro because they didn't want to movie to be like the Herby The Love Bug movie.

Yeah, "high-rise double-pump carb"??
And I thought Bumblebee was a Datsun B210 originally.
I'm definitely going to be seeing this one soon.

Just got back from seeing it and
first let me say that 300 is still the best movie so far this year, but this is pretty good. If you are stuck in the 80s then you can sit there and nit pick a bunch of little things I guess, but other than the changes with the Transformers themselves, which were already known before it came out, theres not really much to get ****y about. Fun movie, great special effects, cool cars and car chases, fight scenes, funny stuff and hot chicks! Starts out good, then it started to slow down and got a bit cheesy but then finished off strong.
Part 2 needs more transformers and less humans as the exciting parts were when they interacted with each other and not so much the humans, other than a classic car scene with the kid and the hottie; classic, now that has to be the coolest car ever!
Found some cool new mods for my car, wonder if Agent 47 can outfit my car with those cool weapons on the Saleen Decepticon?
Anyway good movie, worth paying to see IMO.

I have to disagree, it so far is the second best movie of the year; the best is still 300. While Transformers has tons of cool special effects and is a very good and fun movie to watch, 300 was simply a cinematographic masterpiece.

I want the Camaro before it became the new one, that car had skills to get the ladies! My friend and I kept commenting during the movie about the Camaro, at some angles we like it in others it looked to fat and akward. Ive seen it in person and Ill pass. Looking at the Challenger though. Oh and the place went nuts when Barricade came on, dont know if we had a lot of Decepticon fans or Mustang fans but it was cool.
The Saleen S281 Extreme that played the roll of Barricade in Transformers is now on display at the Saleen Store in Irvine.
