I am sorry if this is too long but here goes. So I ordered my GT in June. After a month of going back and forth I decided to chase my dream. I have wanted a Mustang ever since my father filled my head with tales of his 71 Mach 1. Stories of earth shaking power, mods to send the car flying, lighting up the tires and rocketing down the track.

Here I am years later, married with a child driving a Hyundai Elantra. Why? Simple, insurance has always kept me away from MY piece of the Mustang heritage. I stumble upon show pics of the new Stang and am so amazed by the look, how perfect it was, how much it reminded me of my dads mustang I automatically assumed without research it was way over my head. Come my 25th birthday.......just for curiousities sake I called the insurance guy. 800 bucks a year? What?!? that cant be right? really for the GT? OK now I am gung ho and feel excitment grip my body as I realize I may get to experience what I wanted for so many years growing up.

I placed the order. First auto order ever. My favorite show car color. Tungsten Grey, Stock wheels, ICAP, IUP. I am stoked, on the way home my brother and I excitedely talk about how cool it will be to have a dream fulfilled. I find a dealer gracious enough to honor xplan and I place my order. Week after week DORA in hand I check EVL and she rejects me but I take comfort knowing my clean and unscheduled status will changed and oh what a day it will be. Day after day I refresh this forum looking for pics, obsessing over the car, whether I made the correct choice, the mods I plan to do and the peak of the day I go to pick her up. I battle with myself about changing the interior and wheels only to come back to the same decision over and over.

Cut to three months later. My father informs me that in his old hometown where he sped down the streets of in his old Green terror when he was my age there was a catholic church, a town hall, and a giant house for sale for a rediculously low once in a life time price. Property in my town would be worth well over a million dollars. highest offer there was 50K at the time he learned of it. I told him, if we can get it for that I am all in. Not thinking. Well we put in an offer of 80 that I was sure would fail, it didnt. Now through my obligations it appears I cannot afford my car.

I could move out of my house and sell it, but I train about 5-7 upcoming fighters in a modified basement and I cant leave my guys hanging. I could move up to the new house, sell my current one make a big profit have my car but I dont want to turn my back on my guys I have sweat, laughed and bled with. So I decided to keep both properties. It looks like as of now my status of Clean and Unscheduled is not going to change now, possibly ever.

After months of daily and almost hourly obsession I am completely devistated. I am somewhat optimistic that the other land deal may turn out to my benefit in the future, but for now this sucks beyond all comprehension. Trying to figure a way to make it work, but I am killed thinking I was soooooo close. I envy all you guys and girls with these beautiful cars. Dont take it for granted.

That is such a sad ending to your story. Everything happens for a reason and your day will come. Maybe you will make a nice profit on the land and can end up with a Special Edition Mustang that has not even been released yet. Good Luck to you.

Why are you keeping both houses? If you can't cancel your offer then try and sell the new house. I'm not sure why you made an offer on the new house to begin with if you weren't willing to move into it.

I can appreciate your loyalty to your friends because it is a lot more valuable than any car or house. Have patience, you are still young and you have plenty of time to aquire your dream car.

Because of the before mentioned reason of keeping my original house for training, and the new house (an hour north) we have plans to potentially turn into a bed and breakfast. Cant move and expect people to travel an hour to train either. Just sucks to be this close and not get it. I was looking forward to getting this car more than anything in my life except my little girl. Oh well, could be worse I guess.

Well, you know what, since you are still in a "Clean and Unscheduled" status, I'd say leave it that way. Life has a funny way of working out sometimes. I mean don't get your hopes up or anything, but don't cancel the order either. Make the judgement call when the car actually arrives, you just never know what may happen between now and then, whenever "then" is.

I have to agree with Tony on this. You never know what might happen down the road so keep the order and decide when it gets here. Good luck and I'm sure there is a Mustang somewhere in your future.

Step back and take a deep breath. As Donna said, things happen, (or don;t happen) for a reason.
I remeber at the tender age of 16 drooling over the 67 fastback. Married at 19, a dad at twenty, and then a couple nore.... it wasnt in my means to get a new one before 1973. After 73 they didnt do a lot for me.
Ive driven a 79 Regal, 89 Grand Am, 91 Lexus and lastly a 99 Monte Carlo Z24. Life has changed, my kids are grown, remarried have a 17 year old at home and another in college 22. But just after the 2005 came out, there I was with a 10000 check from my employer for a grievance filed 8years earlier that had been in arbitration all that time and I had no hopes of being resolved... But it was... I didnt need a new car, the Monte Carlo was nice, rode and handled well, got great gas milage, had 40,000 miles on it. but I said if not now when? At the young age of 53, I got my Mustang GT. I waited on it from Nov 26th 2004 till April 8th 2005.
If you count from age 16 when I fell in love with the Mustang, I waited 38 years for it.
Ive done all the right things through life did for the kids, wife (both of them). And now, there it sets in my drive. Its the most beautiful car I could imagine. So dont sweat the small stuff, when its time, if its time, things work out.
I think she was worth the wait.

I emailed the dealer and asked him if he could hold the order until spring. Then I might have a clearer view of the financial siuation. Hopefully he brings me good news.
