Top Gear video - Mustang Review.

There's a road test in a German magazine I bought today, they're very positive about the car, although they're criticizing minor things. Strange thing is, they ran 0-60 in 6.3s (it was a black auto GT). I hope I find the time to scan, translate and post it this weekend.

Is that in German seconds? :P
The thing with the European cars that TG always squeals about is the high HP. They never mention the fact that those those Euro-cars have high HP, they almost have no torque. Sure, it goes fast, but its needs to be going fast already.

"The Mustang Defines Our Cool Wall"
"It's Not Super Cool, But it's Borderline!"
Then how is it,
"Not a Very Good Car, to be perfectly honest"?
These guys seem to Contradict them selves Quite a Bit, Don't they?
As for the Horsepower per Liter Argument, That's One thing Euro Cars Are Great About. They Squeeze Every Drop of Horsepower out of Every Last Liter When they Put the car on the Market. But you also Pay a PREMIUM PRICE for them too.
So Yeah it might not take full advantage of it's Full Displacement, but It does a Respectable Job, and Brings it to the Consumer at a Significant Bargain. Which gives the Owner his Chance to Make the Car His Own!
That's the Catch. Euro Guys usually let a Tuning Firm, AMG for Example, take their performance Cars and Modify them. Where we Americans Do It Ourself So that we have an Individualized Personal Statement.

Also, they couldn't test the car to it's full limit as it was a personal import. the owner will have had them sign a contract not to thrash it!
Oh, and to answer you TampaBear, for a car to be cool doesn't neccessarily mean it is good, look at the Lambo Countach, very cool car, but absolutely rubbish build quality, handling etc.

You'll probably notice that the Germans like the Stang more than the Brits. It's a stupid Britain vs. America thing that extends to all kinds of stuff, including Beer. They don't want to believe that "those darn Colonials" can do anything better than they can. So any compliments the Stang gets are bound to be begrudging.
The mark of a truly great car is one that stands the test of time. The Mustang is still alive and strong as ever after 40 years. The new retro look is incredibly popular, which speaks to the timeless design of the late '60s models. On its first day in 1964, the Mustang sold 22,000 units which is a world record to this day...something the Brits can't match. It's an automotive icon that they're not entirely comfortable acknowledging as such.
Sure, the solid rear axle is paleolithic, but most testers agree that it actually works quite well. It's certainly the most advanced and massaged solid rear axle ever designed and stronger than a IRS setup. Yeah, the interior plastics could have been better - but the design is awesome.
Other than that, there ain't much to complain about. Now let's put it up against some British cars in the same price point and watch it clean their clocks with ease!
Then there's the whole reliability issue with British automobiles - WORST IN THE WORLD (sorry, jgsmuzzy).
And while I'm on the subject, who else but a nancy puts cream in tea and eats cold toast for breakfast?

I have heard that crappy American beers like Budweiser are popular in Europe. Seems very strange to me. That stuff is nasty.
Anyway, as far as cars go, I think that Brits (for the most part) simply have different taste than Americans, because honestly, what use for a large dispacement V8 is there when the roads are barely wide enough to drive the car on them? That would just be a wast of HP and gas (and isn't gas like $4/gallon over there?).
Lastly, when was the last time there was a decent British vehicle? I can't stand British cars or motorcycles, but that's just me.
No offense, James! I'll hoist a Taddy Porter for ya tonight!
