Actual quote from MCA message
Aloha! September 7, 2004
Today is “Job one” for the 2005 Mustang!
Yes, you read that correctly! The new plant is starting production on the 5th generation of our beloved Mustangs! You wonder, just how big is this? Consider that over 50,000 of the model year 2005 Mustangs are already ordered/pre-sold! MCA’s Vice President Chuck Micele placed his order a few months ago and learned his build date will be this Saturday, Sep 11th. He is one happy guy!
And speaking of Chuck Micele, he was in Indianapolis last week to induct John Force into the Mustang Hall of Fame! You can read all about the induction at http://www.nhra.com/2004/news/September/090102.html

"I waited for Job 1 and all I got was this info-empty thread!"
Meant as a joke, but now seems true, sadly...

With all the hype ... Today looks to be a disappointment.
I guess our new count down will be Sept 27, which apparently is the more meaningful date for Ford. We might have our prices and brochures by then ...

I talked to someone "in the know" and asked him how Job 1 went today. He told me that Ford doesn't officially recognize Job 1, but that things are on schedule to meet the expectations of the customers.

Is this guy "in the know" running for office somewhere?
That has got to be the most noninformative affirmation I've every heard

I guess I'm part of the air freshener club, got mine in the mail today. I am also very excited about it being job 1 today (nice thing for Ford to do on my birthday!) Every time I start talking about the new Stang the lady in the next cubicle starts yelling "you are obsessed, get over it!"

I guess Job 1 WAS good for something, as I too got my air freshener.
It's pretty good smelling contrary to what some people round' these parts have complained. It's good old cinnamon and I love it -- will hang the thing next to my Homer Simpson air freshener
(PS- to those who didn't get one yet, it's a square with a Ford logo on both sides)

Will Saleen be producing any stang's this year? Probably in 2006 right?

Still no air freshener/air stinker(depends on which one I get) and no prices or nothing about Job 1. Looks like we got 20 more days,,,, Yippee! Atleast we know they are building them now. I can't wait to see one on the lot.
