Today is Job 1!

Hello to all - this is my first time here - I feel like I've found my way Home!
I am planning to buy a 2005 V6 Premium Coupe but have been waiting for pricing before placing the order. That should be remedied soon and I'll be looking forward to being on the waiting list to see my new Stang.
We have an unrestored but solid and drivable 66 'Sprint' 6 cyl convertible red with blk top and red interior that gets light useage in our short summers here in Maine. Can't wait to park the new one next to the old classic!

Hello, my name is J and I'm your server here at the Horsepower and Performance cafe!! Who ordered the Sonic Blue V6 with the droptop? Just kidding!! Can anyone guess what rolled down the line last nite, here's a clue, it was Sonic Blue!! I was just as surprised as you guys!! Man that car looked good!! And yes, no camo, it would be a little hard to build one with the camo on it. Of course, they all come down the line with the perequiste covers on the fenders, quarters, and door sills. Here's some info on how things operate at AAI. The Mazdas and Mustangs both go down the same line in Trim and Final, the only place that they don't share the same line is in bodyshop, I believe(Mustangs have their own line). The workers (me) in trim and final mostly work on both but a few people have just mustang jobs. You'd just switch parts or tools to whichever car depending whats coming down the line. We'll be running 3 Mustangs to 1 Mazda when we get going on full production. The car total when we reach full production is 292,000 per year, do the math and that sabout 650 a shift, or 65 an hour approx. Think of it this way, there is nothing you can't do in less that a minute!! Anyways, I saw where they are parking more stangs and I think that I might get some more pics this weekend, don't worry, I can take pics of the outside of the plant!!

I read the BON article, as many other people did. But unlike myself many people who read the article not only took it for whole truth but also seem to have confused the meaning of the article and are now spreading the rumor "Ford has stoped production on Mustang GTs" I hate to see such inaccuracy being spread,
So lets just put this to rest you are still building Mustang GTs, right?

Spoke to my dealer today & my status went from a build date of 9/13 to "scheduled." He said that the car is in production & the next info he will have is ETA. I ordered a GT.
Hey John watch for a loaded Torch Red #2052. Give it a hug for me.

Thanks! By now most guys here have seen it. Was on here a lot over the winter. Got burned out making up different versions of what the new car could look like.

I want my mineral grey to be turned into one of those Boss chops with the magnums and without the rear window shade...

Your #s are similar to what the 05 Mustang Body & Structure engineering manager told me at a Mustang event. He said that maximum capacity would be about 195,000 stangs per year. I also read that AAI's build plan was 82,000 Mazda 6s / year = 277.000 cars, which is pretty close to your 292,000 total. By your 3:1 ratio that would work out to 73,000 Mazda 6's and 219,000 Mustangs. So I would guess that Ford has figured out how to boost Mustang production a little, or the 292,000 # is if everything runs perfectly and there is no un-planned down time.
The engineering manager also told me that the plan was for 2 x 10 hour shifts per day with the remaining 4 hours used for line maintanence. Using your #'s it works out to about 224 working days per year. So I assume that you guys are working 10 hours / day 5 days a week and the plant is closed on weekdends & holidays.

yeah, V10, that's best case scenario, and I'm a pessimist!! We shoulda ran a lot more this week but keep finding kinks in the system so...not as many as the bosses want but still a pretty sight!! BTW, I guess I'm a stinker for silver cars 'cause I thought the loaded V6 droptop we ran tonite was just awesome!! Just something about the black and silver ext. and the matching black and silver int., I don't know. Just looks great, i guess. Anyways, yes, we are still building Mustang GT's and I haven't heard of any problems with the motor, we have stopped production a couple of times in the last month but for no more than one day and then had the issue resolved(vendors). Of course, I mean, other than the need of forged internals that is. Give it Cobra internals and a 150 shot of nitrous and goodbye pretty much everyone under $50k.
