Which tires to replace original on 05 GT?

Hi everyone,
So after a decade the time has finally come to replace the stock Pirelli's on my 05 GT convertible. Its a 3 season car (well I'm back in Minnesota now so really only a 6 month car ) so I'm not worried about winter driving but I would like something that can handle occasional summer pop up squalls. I'm looking at the Bridgestone Turanza w/ Serenity +. Anyone have an experience with those or another tire they prefer? Was quoted $660 for the set of 4 installed.

Thanks for any & all thoughts.

If you want a all season tire that is quite good in the dry look at the Cooper RS3-A. Cooper spent three years developing this tire and the main test mules were several Mustangs in both V6 and V8.

Another vote here. I really wish I could get them in 275 or 285/40-18s...

The 235/45-17s were freaking *fantastic* on Awesome.

Perfect Mustang tire for All Season, I think.

If you are still looking, I've loved my Goodyear Eagles High Performance all-season. About $800 for the set though if that's a concern. Not sure if they are in your size. I haven't driven them much in the snow but they are supposed to handle light snow well. They are an outstanding rain tire. I've been caught in torrential rains while on vacation and just superb at highway speeds. Tread wear has been excellent too but I don't drive the car too hard either. No tramlining or wear problems. Absolutely no complaints.

The Firestone FireHawk Wide Ovals I have on mine have been the best tire I've ever owned so far. Great traction on dry pavement, good on gravel roads, and great when storms hit and the roads were flooding. Haven't driven them in winter tho. They're $163 per tire, I do my own install so I don't know what a shop would charge.

I have the Cooper RS3-A as well. They're great, and I would recommend them as well. I would also recommend, however, the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3. They are pricier, but they're fantastic tires. Especially since it seems as though you don't replace them very often, I would look at those as well.

Installed Cooper RS3-A last summer. So far so good. Quiet, but then anything's better than my bald Pirelli's.

I don't know very much about the Cooper tires, but I do know how fantastic the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3's are.. Like you said they are more expensive but are also top notch quality and worth every penny IMO..

I would definitely look into the Michelin's for their long lasting tread wear especially if you don't replace your tires very often

I'll summarize the tires I've tried on my 06 (on the stock wheels)

Stock Pirelli P Zero Nero: never again
Kumho Ecsta ASX: great tire but loses grip too suddenly. Don't recommend
Michelin Pilot Sport AS: awesome tire, I've been amazed with what I could get away with in snow, but pricey. If you have the budget you won't regret them.
Continental Extreme Contact DWS : great tire. I've been amazed at the grip and would compare them on the same level as the Michelins. I haven't done any power slides in them so I can't say how progressive they are in a slide.
