When ordering the new mustang at the dealership I came in with a list of items I wanted on the new mustang and one of these items was a full sized spare tire. The dealer informed me that I would have to make do with a rinky dink mini spare as the body (sheet metal) is moulded for the mini spare at the factory and not the regular size tire.
If Ford was to make a list of changes in the mustang design in the future it might be advantegeous to mould the sheet metal around a regular sized spare tire. I don't think it looks good for a pony to limp back to a service station or tire shop with a mini spare tire. Heated side mirrors would be good also.

Did you check the options available on the new Mustang? Did you really expect to be able to specify the size of the spare tire? There are several reasons why I decided on the new Mustang but the need to look good while using the spare tire was not one of them. But, to each their own . . . . . .

Having a regular size tire has nothing to do with looking good. I have been one of those unfortunate people that have had to use a little dinky tire in the past it is not a great experience. I have to agree though with Holderca1 that a regular size tire would great a possible weight problem...never thought of that.....good point.

I see nothing with the rinky dinky spare. I prefer it. As others have said, less weight etc...
Knock on wood since I have never needed to use a spare. Then again, I always replace my tires with better quality ones so my chance of getting a flat is less than if I had kept the original tires.

Funny thing about the less weight notion is that in the thirty some years that I have been driving I have yet to see a spotless trunk usually one can find tools, boxes of various items etc in the trunk of a car, but hey I guess there are drivers out there that never use the trunk.
Since the Gas Tank is now gone from under the spare, Ford could make it deeper to acomodate a "Full Size Spare".
If you have a Traction Lok Differential (all GT's), you really don't want to run the mini spare out back for more than a few miles. The smaller diameter dounut on one side will add a lot of extra miles to your Diff. Clutch Pack ... I.E. the slippage that normally only happens while turning will be constant. And running a mini spare up front can be dangerous for handing & braking.
Also when you do have to put the spare on, it would be nice if the blown tire would fit where the spare was !! I ran something over in my '98 and had to use the spare to get the rest of the way home (only 20 miles). The blown tire barley fit into the tire well diameter wise.
A Temporary Spare is just that ... you must imediately get your regular tire fixed !! People today are just too busy (or lazy) to get it fixed right away. I see hundreds of cars driving every day with their temporary spare on and we all know that they ALL did not JUST have a blow out. They will drive on it for weeks / months until it blows too !! I've even seen inner-city cars driving around with TWO temp spares on at once !!

05MustangSB,
I try not to misquote people. In this case, I do not believe that I did. If you believe I'm quoting two different people, please state who the two people are and I will apologize.
