Tire pressure monitor system

Yes, but it's my understanding that it's no better than having an idiot light on your dash. It supposedly lets you know when you have air in the tire vs. flat......and if this is true, then it's worthless to me.

depending I would say. It should go off on a slow leak. after say about 10lbs have been lost. a leak that takes less then 2-3 miles to go flat will prolly not be detected until to late.
I agree worthless to most mustang owners since they(we) look at our cars when walking up to and from all the time and would notice a low tire.
but driving with a slow leak it could be beneficial.

sounds useless to me, it seems that Ford likes to throw things on these cars, but not really in the way they should, another example is the MyColor, I would actually use it, if it changed all interior lights, and not just the gauges

I'm sure ford would have left this option off, but its a new federal law that all 06 vehicles sold in the states must have it.

is it 06? I thought it was by 07 models, not that it matters

Ya, the TPMS only will alert you if 25% of the pressure is out of the tire. Its not going to be like the Corvette TPMS that tells you what psi you're at...just that your tire is low.

My question is, why would you start a new thread when 1. this had already been discussed, and 2. you posted in that thread too?

Because 1), more information seems to becoming available for the 06 (wheels)
2) I still havent seen anything from ford about it on the public end of it
3) I think I hit the subject title a little better rather than "the tire pressure gauges in the 06....." Vs
"Tire pressure monitor system
Will 06' have it on mustang?"
Id Rather make a new thread rather than bump a vague subject thread

Well I can answer at least one of those questions:
Integrated Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) comes standard on all 2006 Mustangs
From:
https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/2006fle...006-mustang.asp
That was from the old thread, and here is the rest of my post (re-answering some more questions that were asked):

Tire pressure monitors standard by 2008
Posted Apr 8, 2005, 8:00 AM ET by Walter J Keegan Jr
"All new four-wheel vehicles with a gross vehicle rating of 10,000 or less will be required to be equipped with tire pressure monitors by 2008. All passenger cars must comply by 2006. The legislation finds the cheaper “indirect” systems that use the ABS to gauge tire pressure not good enough, requiring a monitor installed on each wheel. The system will set off a dashboard warning light if any tire falls 25% below the recommended inflation pressure. Each system will cost manufacturers $48.44 to $69.89 per vehicle to install."
I am not trying to be a jerk, but this was all posted just over a week ago, and since there is already a super high flow of posts in this section, why add more that have just recently been discussed?
Take it easy.

I didn't mean take it easy as in relax, take it easy as in "take it easy." You are from Chicago, you know what I mean.
By the way, the mileage on your Thunderbird is really impressive. My Explorer has the most of any Ford's owned by friends or family (at 163,000). I can't even imagine it breaking 200 grand.
