tire pressure?

I just put my 18 inch rims back on the car and I need to know what tire pressure to put the tires at. The rims/tires are 255/45/18, and on the sidewall it says Max Tire Pressure of 51 psi. Should I run them at 51 psi for everyday driving? Thanks!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Do NOT run 51 psi. 17"s are running 32 psi. I think that 18"s are generally running 34-35 psi, but I'm not 100% certain. It's definitely not 51 psi.

I was thinking that 51 sounded too high which is why I wanted to double check. By the way the tires are the BF Goodrich KDW2's, if it matters.

Yeah, 51 psi is the maximum tire pressure rating for the tire. I'm sure that someone with 18"s will soon chime in, but I'm pretty sure that it's 34-35 psi. Sounds like you got a set of good tires there...

I have stock 18" wheels.
The label reads 32psi. for the 235 tires.

I have Nittos in the same size; 255/45/18. The Max PSI on the sidewall is 50. I run 34-35 psi.

The rule of thumb I've seen is 0-3 psi higher for a Plus-one or Plus-two fitment. I had 17's on the car stock and the door sticker said 32 psi. I started at 36 psi and worked down to about 34.

Tirerack actually recommends the tire pressure on your door sticker regardless of the type of tires.

So does someone running 20's need higher pressure? I never realized this.
