Now that the weather is starting to get a little cooler, I've noticed that the stock Perrelli tires seem to develop flat spots sitting just overnight. When I first drive the car in the morning, I can notice the vibration from the flat spots but then it goes away after about 5-10 miles. I had the same problem on my 96 GT but i didn't notice it until it got really cold or unless the car sat for several days. Anyone else have the same problem? Is it just the Perrelli tires or what?

I thought I was the only one! Mine's always done it, regardless of temp.

My car has sat for weeks at a time and never had any problems. I didn't even think radial tires could develop this problem...

I have the same with my cars...even my 95 carolla (daily commuter car) in the winter
i am in upstate NY, so the winters get cold.
I have a friend in that lives up near Cananda by the Great Lakes area, it gets like 20-40 below and he tells me that it is commonplace for this to happen

Hey Jeff,
You are dead on!!!!!! I live in southwest Ohio and my GT Vert has done the same thing since day one. I just had my tires rotated last weekend at 5K at the dealer and I complained about the shimmy as I call it. My tires were rotated and re-balanced and it was 46 degrees today when I left work and I was really piffed off at the shimmy in the wheel for the first couple of miles. The Dealer guy told me that Perrelli still uses NYLON in their tires!! That is 30 year old technology!!!
Remember the tires of the late 70'S???? They all did it. Can't wait to wear these puppies out so I can get something respectable!!!!!

Nope. Mine is just right. Tires just get small flat spots from sitting. Only lasts a couple of miles than it goes away. I hear these tires are only lasting about 20k so they will get replaced soon.

Jeez, I didn't think this was an issue with modern tires. I hope the 18" BFG's don't do this, mine will be sitting all winter...

If you are going to let the car sit for long periods, you should put it up on jack stands IMO.

No problems for me, and it's been getting down to the low 40's at night. It has also sat for several days on many occations with no problems. Now these don't really seem to be the best tires, but they're not bad either. Much better than General G4S tires!

Yup, mine is doing it now that it is in the 60's. Not a big concern and it lasts all of a mile or so. I'd bet most people wouldn't notice it, but I'd also bet that most of us who frequent this site aren't like most people.

I checked my tire pressure and they were a little low. I'll know if that was the problem for sure the next morning I drive it.

I wish the roads here in Missouri were smooth enough to determine if there's flat spots or not...so I can't help, sorry.

I've had problems with vibration since I bought my car. When dealer said it was fixed the first time and it still vibrated I did some troubleshooting myself. I jacked the car and checked the radial runout of the front tires. I was shocked to see a flat spot about 1/8" deep from sitting overnight at about 60 degrees. I guess you should check runout after driving a few miles. I never got any vibration until I hit highway speeds and now that they put a new tire on it doesn't vibrate at all.
