B) I got a call from my local southern ford dealer on Friday telling me that they recieved a 05' Mustang GT-Yellow with a 5-speed MANUAL. I decided to stop by today to see it( it is the first GT i have seen since last Detriot Auto Show )
I spot the car outside of the dealership and park my Civic My stepdad pulls up in his new 05 911 Carrera and a sales rep starts to talk to him about the Porsche. I talk to the sales rep and he says he's going to get the key. I am a 17 years old automotive enthusiast(to say the least). I have gotten my dad interested in the car and stay up to date through this AWESOME site. I am psyched just to crank and rev the car. The rep ask the best question ever....."Do you want to test drive it?'' I think "ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?" The obvious answer is "YES". My stepdad gets in the passenger seat and I get behind the drivers seat. I ask our rep how old I have to be, he replies "18". I say that im 17 and he says that it is OK!!!Driving around in the car is awesome and i will report more head and leg room than the 04' (I am 5'9). The rep drives a couple miles down the road, with a suprisingly non-conservative manner . As he pulls over and we switch seats, a question pops into to my mind "Is this really happening?" I push in the clutch and release the hand brake....The answer is YES! The car is everything that I hoped it would be, and SHE is very drivable. I have driven our Porsche and the Mustang does not scare me as much. I cruise up to a cool 60mph(in town).. I am amazed at how driving the car becomes so natural so quickly! I hit every stoplight available and I fear that Im going to stall...but no stalls! I will dream about the exhuast note for the next week.

DID I MENTION THAT I AM 17

Wow, I would never let my 17 yr old drive my 911, if I had one of course, and if I had a 17 yr old, thank goodness my daughter is 18 mo. old, don't have to worry about such things for awhile. Congrats on getting to drive it and welcome to the forum.

What I am wondering is how do you get stuck in a Civic while your Dad is driving a 6 figure car, you gotta work him a little better than that.

We're good pals with our salesman, so he let me drive a V6 around town for ten minutes or so. Told me to floor it and everything! I'm a year underage for test driving too, but he didn't care. He even told me to come back when they got some GT's, and he'd take me out in them too (not sure if he'll let me drive it though!).

Daddy has money, Dealership wants money.
Of COURSE they'd let you drive it.

its all in perception....
If you were 17 didn't know the guy, chances would be lower to score a test drive unfortunately. Just a fact.

Glad you got to drive it, and of course you were going to love it...
You had doubts?
